LUCKY DUBE
SOUTH AFRICAN REGGAE ARTIST
1964-2007

He is best known for his anti-apartheid songs, but although he was widely acclaimed internationally, very few people knew of him in the US. Lucky Dube was shot and killed as he dropped his son off at school. Very much so worth a lookup at You Tube. He will be mised.

MINUTEKLAN ALERTS

This is a special section for any activites concerning the Minuteklan Project and other anti-immigration efforts.

Nov. 3

PITTSBURGH, PA--Voice of the People announced a rally, but also said it was a "tentative" date. Pittsburgh doesn't care too much for Nazis, so WHEN they make their appearence at this event it is not going to be received all that warmly. The question is if Dan Smeriglio and Andrew Woodring got the message and realized they shouldn't be making them part of their events. We doubt it.

EVERY SATURDAY

BERGENFIELD and MANASQUAN, NJ--From 8:00am to 10:00am, Ron Bass' United Patriots of America (UPA) bring their anti-immigrant putsch each weekend to these two towns to try and harass day laborers.

FASCIST DAVID HOROWITZ PUSHING 'ISLAMOFASCIST AWARENESS WEEK' AT UNIVERSITIES

If you are going to fight fascism, it is a good idea not be be a fascist yourself. Here's an example: We can call out David Horowitz for being a fascist because we are not fascists. We don't believe that you should target people of a certain faith or religion and demonize them, even if you cover it up with a colorful term like "Islamofascism". Whatever problems Horowitz sees in Islam can also be found in the beliefs and words of those that are going to speak at college campuses during this week-long campaign, including the beliefs and words of David Horowitz. Horowitz has been known to work with associates of the white supremacist publication American Renaissance, even making their material available for download on his own website. Others participating have been associated with the Council of Conservative Citizens. So who the hell are any of these folks to lecture us about any other form of fascism. We don't want any of it around, particularly theirs! They might need to be told this directly, so here's a list of upcoming appearences by some of these scumbags. If one of them happens to be at your college, have fun giving them hell. There may be other events at your college put on by the resident right-wingers that don't involve anyone coming out, so keep an eye out. Remind these idiots that anti-Muslim stances are just as despicable as anti-Jewish stances, and they will be treated accordingly. Those without dates have yet to be announced.

These same conservatives frothed at the mouth when this school hosted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Horowitz, who is a Columbia alumni, says he has never been invited to speak there, yet this appearence was on his schedule when he said that.
DePaul -- Robert Spencer, October 25
Emory -- David Horowitz, October 24
George Mason -- Luanah Saghieh, Alan Nathan, October 22
Georgia Tech--Martha Zoller
Remember her? A few years back Steven Colbert was the comedian at the Washington Press Club dinner where President Bush sat a few feet from him as he joked, "When the president decides something on Monday, he still believes it on Wednesday -- no matter what happened Tuesday." Zoller, in what we called the stupidest invoking of 9-11 ever, remarked that Colbert's remarks made her angry because all that she could remember was that Sept. 11 happened on a Tuesday.
Lawrence University -- Jonathan Schanzer
Maryland --Michael Ledeen
Michigan -- David Horowitz, October 23
Northeastern -- Daniel Pipes, October 24
Pipes is hardly the voice of reason on this issue, especially since he in particular goes beyond targeting "Islamofascism" and heads straight for Islam overall. He believes that anyone who practices Islam should be monitored and marginalized. So don't expect this week to have any sense of rationale with this guy being a part of it.
Ohio State -- David Horowitz, October 25
Penn -- Rick Santorum, October 24
Penn State -- Rick Santorum, October 23
For the record, the reason why Rick has the time to do this is because we bounced his sorry ass out of the Senate last year.

WASHINGTON, DC--This is for all you Gathering of Eagles chumps who can come out 2,000 strong for an International ANSWER rally and accost folks on some notion that you are protecting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall after Freak Republic's Mary Beth Caherty promoted the lie about it either about to be or was vandalized. Fred Phelps has now told you himself that his crew will be there protesting the Vietnam Memorial 25th Anniversary Parade, or what he calls "a major squall-and worship-the-dead-who-served-with-honor(Barf!) fest". They will be making their way there at 11:00 AM and will be there for about an hour. We really better see your sorry GOE asses there, or Phelps is right: you CAN go to Hell!

TRENT LOTT PDF Print E-mail
Written by One People's Project

NAME:Trent Lott

HOME BASE: Grenada County, MS, Washington, DC
RELATED ITEMS:

Video: Lott and the Council of Conservative Citizens
On December 5, 2002, Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi was honoring outgoing Senator Strom Thurmond during his 100 birthday and retirement party. While making his remarks, he made this statement:

"I want to say this about my state, When Strom Thurmond ran for president we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had of followed our lead we wouldn't of had all these problems over all these years, either."

At that time Strom Thurmond ran as a segregationalist on the breakaway Dixiecrat ticket, and until 1964 (just in time for the Civil Rights Bill to be passed - making any stance on segregation a suicidal move) when he "renounced" those views, was its most vocal proponents. Lott sparked a firestorm of controversy with that line which at the time of this writing was threatening his future position as Senate Majority Leader. This was not just a gaffe said in jest. Not only did he say almost the same exact thing at a 1980 rally for Ronald Reagan in Jackson, MS, but as the press looked into his record they found a history of support for white supremacist causes going back as far as when he was a student at the University of Mississippi and he worked to keep his fraternity segregated. In light of that piece of info, we find it funny how Robert Novak while defending Lott on Crossfire during all the controversy, tried to paint an anti-racist portrait of him by saying he also fought against the racist violence that ensued at the Oxford campus (see the James Meredith entry for the story on that episode). Sorry, Bob. A stance against violence did not make him any less a racist.

Lott has been under the microscope ever since his white supremacist ties came out. In fact, a lot of the mainstream conservative ties to white supremacist groups really went under the microscope when it was revealed that he and Rep. Bob Barr spoke before the Council of Conservative Citizens, a white supremacist, neo-Confederate and nationalist organization that boasts a number of elected officials as members. Lott claimed not to have any first-hand knowledge of the group's views, but that is not so. "Trent is an honorary member," said his uncle, Arnie Watson, a former Mississippi state senator, tax assessor and currently a member of the council's executive board. What's more, he has had a regular column for several years in the Citizens Informer, a publication of the Council of Conservative Citizens. It most certainly does not help his argument much when a quote from a speech he gave to the group surfaces where he says, "The people in this room stand for the right principles and the right philosophy." If he had no first hand knowledge of the group's views he had to be the stupidest person on the planet.

Fact is, for all the scrutiny Lott is getting today, we should have seen just as much if not more in 1998. Instead he was allowed to continue on as if this was not a problem for anyone. When one goes after Lott, we should also hold to scrutiny those that clammed up the first time he was called out. They would more than likely be the next ones we have to deal with.

Senator Trent Lott posed with officials of the pro-white Council of Conservative Citizens in 1997. The following year he said he has "no first-hand knowledge" of the views of the group that made him an honorary member. From left, William D. Lord, senior coordinator ( who has twice served as chairman of the Lott Senate campaign in Carroll County, Mississippi) ; Mr. Lott; Tom Dover, president, and Gordon L. Baum, executive officer. In July 2003, Mr. Lord found his way into another picture with former RNC Chairman Haley Barbour who posed with him and others during a C of CC-sponsored function while he was running for governor.

He downplays it a lot, but Lott is also a leading figure in the neo-Confederate movement which the C of CC is active in promoting by defending Confederate flags across the south and promoting Confederate activities. He is the spokesperson in the Sons of Confederate Veterans recruiting video and a member. One of his major activities was the support and promotion of Jefferson Davis, the first and only President of the Confederate States of America and onetime U.S. Senator of Mississippi. Beauvior, Jefferson Davis's last residence was located in then U.S. Rep. Lott's 5th district. Trent Lott was awarded the Jefferson Davis medal by the United Daughters of the Confederacy for his successful efforts to get Jefferson Davis' citizenship restored, a step backward legitimizing the Confederacy in this country. In the Feb. 1980, issue of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, his address to the UDC at the Confederate Monument at Arlington National Cemetery, June 3, 1979, is reprinted in full detailing his view of Jefferson Davis as a great American, the unjustness of his not having citizenship, and the process of restoring his citizenship. Even though this restoration of citizenship required a 2/3rds vote of both houses under the 14th Amendment. It was not that difficult, the measure passed by overwhelming majorities in both houses. In the house less than 15 members opposed it. President Jimmy Carter, who is also a pro-Confederate, signed it into law October 17, 1978. There was some public outcry but both the Democrats and Republicans seeking southern electoral votes supported the measure nearly unanimously.
In a magazine called the
Southern Partisan (yep, the same racist, pro-slavery rag John Ashcroft gave an interview to), he was asked about a statement he made during the 80s at the Convention of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in Biloxi, Mississippi, in which he said that "the spirit of Jefferson Davis lives in the 1984 Republican Platform." To the question, Trent Lott responded:

"I think that a lot of the fundamental principles that Jefferson Davis believed in are very important to people across the country, and they apply to the Republican Party. After the War between the States, a lot of Southerners identified with the Democrat Party because of the radical Republicans we had at that time, particularly in the Senate. The South was wedded to that party for years and years and years. But we have seen the Republican Party become more conservative and more oriented toward the traditional family values, the religious values that we hold dear in the South. And the Democratic party is going in the other direction. As a result, more and more of The South's sons, Jefferson Davis' descendants, direct or indirect, are becoming involved with the Republican party. The platform we had in Dallas, the 1984 Republican platform, all the ideas we supported there - from tax policy, to foreign policy; from individual rights, to neighborhood security - are things that Jefferson Davis and his people believed in."

To defend an enemy of this country like Davis questions how effective Lott is as a representative of this country. The rest of the article, incidentally, detailed how Southerners like himself are becoming more influential in the Republican party as well as his opposition to civil rights legislation for it being unfair to the south and the Martin Luther King holiday.

One thing he did, by the way, is to get the desk of Jefferson Davis when he was a senator, assigned to the senior senator of Mississippi. This resolution too passed the Senate with great support and little discussion.

The Grenada County native began his political career in 1968, as an assistant to the Democratic U.S. Rep. William Colmer, a conservative Democrat who supported segregation, one year after receiving a law degree from the University of Mississippi. After Colmer retired in 1972, Lott left the party and was elected to Congress and in 1988, went on to the Senate where he has been ever since.

After people started getting wind of the Council of Conservative Citizens, and Lott's ties to the group, he issued a statement. "I have made my condemnation of the white supremacist and racist view of this group, or any group, clear," the statement said. "Any use of my name to publicize their view is not only unauthorized, it's wrong." Too little too late, especially after his most recent controversy, which is still playing itself out. Lott illustrates exactly what it is that people of color have been looking at, and what it is we need to fight.

Trent Lott is representative of the dominate political forces of Mississippi, which is now building a Presidential Library at the cost of millions for Jefferson Davis. That's right. Your tax dollars are going to pay tribute to America's bloodiest enemy.

SEAN HANNITY'S 'FREEDOM CONCERTS'
untitled

THE CONCERTS ARE OVER, BUT WE STILL HAVE WORK TO DO!

So Sean Hannity and Ollie North's Freedom Concerts are done for another year, but that doesn't mean we stop getting the message out that these concerts may be a sham. They are going to do this again next year, exploiting the troops one more time for whatever personal gain they get from all of this, and if you have a friend or loved one fighting this bogus war, the last thing you should allow is someone making millions off the pain and suffering of those they pretend to support. As we have said before, they say the proceeds are going to support the families of injured troops, but it seems like the charity, Ollie North's Freedom Alliance, benefits more than the troops do. We have obtained the Freedom Alliance's 29-page tax form for 2006. When we first went after them we said that the law requires all charities to give at least 65% of all monies recieved to those they are benefitting, yet they were at around 55%. This year we were told they were at 70%. This tax form, however has painted another figure. In 2006, the Freedom Alliance made over $14 million. Of that, the total Grants and Contributions to soldiers, their families, as well as to a number of colleges, total a paltry $397, 900! Perhaps we are reading it wrong. Maybe you can provide a different take than we have. Perhaps Sean and Ollie can explain what the hell is going on. Take a look at the tax form, which we PDFed for your viewing pleasure, and get back to us with your take. You can bet we are going to stay on this as long as these shows continue, because if Sean does these concerts next year, we need to make sure that they don't make more money than the man or woman who just got their legs blown off in Iraq and nothing to show for it but their exploitation.

REVISED GALLERY ENTRY

BILL WHITE
So we spent the weekend in Roanoke, VA to do a few things, among them take in the African American Heritage festival, which was in a ironic twist for us held in Roanoke's Elmwood Park! Of course, when we go to the Star City, it is to up the ante on Bill. We updated his Gallery entry again and we included a few things. Basically, we confirmed where he lives, what he drives, and what properties around town he owns. We also provide pics of all of this. If he wants to put the Jena Six on blast, it is only fair that we return the favor - effectively. The only difference is that we don't call for anyone to lynch him. Bill's not worth the rope - or the jail time. We have the upper hand over him. Let's keep it that way.

AN UNRESOLVED ISSUE

THEE IMPERIAL NEEDS YOUR HELP

Remember that show in Jacksonville, FL that was cancelled after Conederate Hammerskins learning that it was an anti-racist fest benefiting us shot out the windows of the venue? We just found out that the venue, Thee Imperial, is still trying to pay for the repairs on the windows. It's one thing for CHS to come after us, but it's quite another when they pretty much inconvience people around them simply because they were so damned afraid that we came into town. Regardles, Thee Imperial is a good clubrun by good people, but they are struggling, and they should not have to put themselves out because of this BS. They are asking for anyone to help them with their windows. If you can help them out, hit them up at their MySpace page.

As for the series of makeup shows that we have been planning, don't worry. We didn't forget. We smply decided to give ourselves some time to put them together. They will happen this summer, so keep watch on this site for more information as we go along.

THE SHOW THEY TRIED TO STOP WILL NOT BE DROPPED!

ANATOMY OF A NAZI RALLY

Every now and then, some bonehead announces a rally and people from the community hits us up asking us what to expect. A few years ago we have written something that we think is a pretty good guide - a little sarcastic, but pretty good regardless.
