Williams’ Nick Heidfeld’s drive in the forthcoming Brazilian Grand Prix looks to be in doubt after he reportedly injured his shoulder blade in a cycling accident.

Heidfeld has missed the last two rounds of the championship after he pulled out the Italian Grand Prix meeting with headaches, thought to be the result of an earlier testing accident at Monza.

Now, he has told his official website he will have to miss the Interlagos race as well, after fracturing his right shoulder blade. The injury was caused by a collision with a motorbike while Heidfeld was cycling at home in Switzerland.

If Heidfeld is unable to drive in Brazil, Williams reserve driver Antonio Pizzonia is expected to get the chance to compete in his home Grand Prix. Pizzonia stood in for Heidfeld at Monza and Spa, scoring two points in Italy, but crashing out of Sunday’s Belgian race in controversial fashion.

Williams will be testing at for two days at Silverstone this week, with Pizzonia and Nico Rosberg at the wheel for the team.
