SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres today announced pre-game participants for Thursday's Game 2 of the National League Division Series at PETCO Park. The game's ceremonial first pitch will be delivered by former St. Louis Cardinal Lee Smith, the man who Trevor Hoffman passed to become MLB's all-time career saves leader. Hoffman will catch the ceremonial pitch.

The ceremony recognizing Hoffman will take place at approximately 12:55 p.m., followed by the ceremonial first pitch leading up to the start of the game scheduled for 1:09 p.m.

Hoffman recorded his 479th career save Sunday, September 24 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, surpassing Lee Smith on the all-time Major League saves list. Smith played 18 Major League seasons for eight different teams. He's currently a resident of Shreveport, LA and works as minor league instructor for the San Francisco Giants.

Other activities slated for Thursday's game include:

• The United States Navy Parachute Team "The Leap Frogs" jumping into PETCO Park. The demonstration will be narrated by Chief Robert Feinberg.

• The National Anthem presented by 15 year-old Murrieta resident Joelle James. In addition to singing The Star-Spangled Banner prior to Padres games, she's sung before the Little League World Series Finals and prior to San Diego Chargers, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings and Los Angeles Dodgers games. James will also sing God Bless America prior to the Seventh Inning Stretch.

• Our nation's colors presented by the San Diego Harbor Police Honor Guard.

• Liz Mendoza of San Diego signing the National Anthem via American Sign Language. Medoza is affiliated with the San Diego County Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.

• Additionally, five different musical and entertainment acts will be performing throughout the ballpark. Each will begin when the gates open at 11:00 a.m.

The Padres are encouraging fans to arrive early and take public transportation to PETCO Park.
