Helen Leung
Field Deputy
Helen represents Council President Garcetti as the Field Deputy for Hollywood. Her prior experience as part of CD13's Planning Unit serves her well as she helps out residents, businesses, new developments and neighborhoods, not to mention the occasional street parade and special event.
Helen is a three-year intern veteran of the office. She began working in the field office on constituent casework, producing how-to guides, staffing the Council President, as well assisting field deputies in all matters.
Helen is a home-grown resident of Elysian Valley. A graduate of John Marshall High School, she played Varsity volleyball and spent many hours volunteering for the Elysian Valley United Community Services Center.
After graduating from Marshall, Helen went to the University of Pennsylvania, where she received a B.A. in Political Science and Communications with a concentration in Public Service, as well as fell in love with the east coast, including the winters. Helen also studied abroad for half a year at University of London’s Goldsmith College, where she picked up a new love for the performing arts and traveling, especially backpacking.
During her free time, Helen keeps active with biking (Helen can often be sited on her blue Trex road bike throughout the district), volleyball, tennis, visits to local performing art theaters, and her daily Tae Kwon Do practice (she holds a first-degree black belt).
