Opening date: 13.03.1938 The station was opened as a part of the second construction stage of Moscow metro.
Station design: three-vaulted pylon-type deep-level station built to the standard design.

The station was named for the Kursk railway terminal, which is located nearby. The station features light-grey marble pylons, and track walls faced with white glazed ceramic tile and black marble. Round ventilation shafts are hidden by golden grilles with light fittings. The station is also lit by big lamps fixed to the vault. A pedestrian underpass to Kurskaya-Koltsevaya was opened in 1950, and a transfer to Chkalovskaya station (Lyublinskaya line) was commissioned in 1996.
