Hollywood stars Sylvester Stallone, Jenny McCarthy, Bernie Mac and Tom Arnold all turned out for the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence event at the home of Joan and David Hill on Sunday, November 12th.

Joan, member of the Brady Center Board of Trustees, and David, Chairman and CEO of Fox Sports Television Group and President of DirecTV Entertainment Group, hosted a star-studded evening honoring activists Mary Leigh and Charles Blek, Chairman of Hispanic Communications Network Jeff Kline and Lionsgate CEO and Co-Chairman Jon Feltheimer. Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton was also in attendance to present the James Brady Law Enforcement Award to Los Angeles Police Officer Gonazalo Lara.

The Brady Center was thrilled to announce the establishment of the Matthew Blek Memorial Endowment at the event. Start-up funding for the Endowment came from a generous donation from the Orange County Citizens for the Prevention of Gun Violence, which was founded in 1995 by honorees Charles and Mary Leigh Blek in memory of their son, Matthew. Interest from the Endowment will be used for scholarships and stipends for activists to attend Brady trainings and conferences.

Brady Center President Paul Helmke and California State Senator Jack Scott gave remarks, and Kathleen "Bird" York gave a beautiful performance of the Oscar-winning theme song "In The Deep," from the movie Crash. Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d'ouevres and desserts as they participated in an exciting silent auction. Special thanks to Event Chair Sheila Walker for all of her help with the event and auction.

The Brady Center was proud to receive such wonderful donations, and would like to thank all our supporters, volunteers and auction donors for their time, energy and commitment to keeping America safe from gun violence.
