Damned fine ratings for Christmas Special.

Unofficial overnight ratings reveal that the 2007 Christmas special Voyage of the Damned was watched by an impressive 12.2 million viewers, winning a 50% share of the total television audience. This marks the highest ratings for Doctor Who since it returned in 2005, and its best viewing figures since 1979.

The programme was also the second most watched of Christmas Day, after the 8pm edition of EastEnders.
