Population Extinct. Ethnic population: 1,014 in India, 1,421 all countries (2000).
Region Uttaranchal, Pithoragarh District, Johar Valley, Darchula and Munsyari tahsils, facing the Nepal border along the Mahakali Valley.

Comments Rangkas people have merged their identity with the dominant Kumauni people and the language has been replaced by Kumauni. 'Rangkas' sometimes used to refer to the whole group of Darmiya, Chaudangsi, Byangsi and the now extinct Johari.
