Locomotive "Cambrai"

Cambrai

"Cambrai" is a French 0-6-0 tank engine of metre gauge, fitted with outside Allen straight-link valve gear, which worked in the Ironstone fields of Northamptonshire. It was built in 1888 by L. Corpet & Cie. of Paris (works no. 493) for the Chemin de Fer du Cambresis. In 1936 it was purchased by the Loddington Ironstone Company Ltd, later moved to Waltham Ironstone Quarries at Eaton near Melton Mowbray in 1956, and was presented to the museum in 1960. Cambrai is currently at the Irchester Narrow Gauge Railway.
