No. 12 Steel Crochet Hook. Work tightly for best results.

CENTER: Starting in center, ch 8, join with sl st to form ring.

1st rnd: Ch 3, 17 dc in ring, join to ch-3 with sl st.

2d rnd: Ch 12, (sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 9) 5 times, join to 3d st of ch-12.

3d rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place, * 1 hdc and 3 dc in next lp, 2 dc in 5th (center) st of same lp, ch 21, sl st in starting st of chain, (ch 20, sl st in same st) 3 times, 2 dc in same st with last 2 dc, 3 dc and 1 hdc in bal. of lp, ** sc in next dc. Repeat from * around, ending at **; join to 1st sc and fasten off.

4th rnd: Attach to 1st lp on one petal, ch 3, 2 dc in same lp, (ch 12, 3 dc in next lp) repeated around; end with ch 6, join with tr in top of 1st ch-3 for final lp.

5th rnd: Ch 3, dc in this same lp, (ch 7, 3 dc in next lp) repeated around; end with ch 7, 1 dc in 1st lp, join to ch-3.

6th rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place, * (1 hdc, 7 dc, 1 hdc) in next sp, ** sc in center dc between lps. Repeat from * around, ending at **; join to 1st sc.

7th rnd: * Sl st in 1st 2 sts on next scallop, ch 6, sk 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 6, sk 2 dc, sl st in next 2 sts, sk sc in angle. Repeat from * around, making ch-3 and dc for final lp.

8th rnd: (Ch 12, sc in 1st lp on next scallop, ch 6, sc in next lp) repeated around.

9th rnd: Sl st to center of next ch-12 lp, sc in same place, (ch 6, tr in next ch-6 lp, ch 6, sc in next ch-12 lp) repeated around; join to 1st sc.

16th rnd: Sl st to center dc of next scallop, ch 3, dc in same st, * ch 18, holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, make 2 dc in center dc of next scallop, thread over and draw thru all 3 lps on hook for a Cluster. Repeat from * around; join final lp to 1st dc.

17th rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place, * (1 hdc, 10 dc) in half of next lp, ch 6, sl st in side-top of last dc for a p, (10 dc, 1 hdc) in bal. of lp, sc in next Cluster. Repeat from * around; join to 1st sc. Fasten off.

FLOWER BORDER: Repeat "CENTER" to * in 3d Rnd. (1 hdc, 3 dc) in next lp, 2 dc in 5th (center) st of same lp, sl st in one p on last rnd of "CENTER", dc in same st with last 2 dc, (3 dc, 1 hdc) in bal. of petal, * sc in next dc, (1 hdc, 3 dc) in next lp, 3 dc in center st of same lp, (3 dc, 1 hdc) in bal. of lp. Repeat from * 4 times, join to 1st sc; fasten off.

* Make another Flower, join 1st petal to next p to left around "CENTER", then join 2d petal to 1st free petal on previous Flower and complete remaining 4 petals. Repeat from * around, joining 24th Flower to 1st one, to complete circle.

EDGE: Attach to center dc on 3d free petal on one Flower, ch 3, * dc in 1st petal on next Flower, ch 12, (tr, ch 7, tr) in center dc on next petal, ch 12, dc in next petal. Repeat from * around; join final ch-12 to 1st dc.

2d rnd: * (1 sc, 1 hdc, 11 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in next sp, sc in next tr, (ch 1, 5 dc, ch-4 p, 5 dc) in next sp, ch 1, sc in next tr, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 11 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in next sp. Repeat from * around; join and fasten off.

Stretch and pin doily right-side-down in a true circle. Steam and press dry thru doubled wet and dry cloths.
