Sacramento District Attorney Jan Scully will not pursue charges against Sacramento Kings reserve center Justin Williams, officials said.

In a prepared statement issued late Tuesday, Scully's office said "the evidence does not support the filing of any criminal charges in this case." The statement said Scully's office would not discuss the case.

Sacramento police said Williams had been accused by a woman of sexually assaulting her.

The woman told police she met Williams and another woman at a party the night of Oct. 11 before going to Williams' Natomas home, three sources told The Bee last month.

According to the sources, the woman told investigators she did not have anything to drink before going to Williams' home, but said she had a drink there and felt woozy.

The woman reported the following day that Williams and the other woman tried to have sex with her, the sources said.

Williams, reached at his Natomas home, said "The last month has been really rough for me. I didn't believe that this happened to me. I 'm happy it's all said and done."

Williams, who declined to discuss the specifics of that night, said the situation did give him the opportunity to meet with family members and religious people. He said the experience brought him closer to God.

"I learned to be careful with what I do," he said. "Everyone who knows me knows what type of person I am. I know I'm a good person."

Williams said he looks forward to returning to the basketball court.
