Allowing fans to interact with the movie's characters for the first time on any gaming console, High School Musical: Sing It! extends the "High School Musical" experience by offering players the chance to immerse themselves in the world of the hit movie. Fans show off their creativity and skills by mixing together their favorite characters, songs and scenes as they sing their way to stardom. Featuring motion-captured-choreography from the original movie's dance routines, the games provide hours of fun for the entire family as they get to interact with some of their favorite movie stars. Featuring three play modes, Story, Party and Quickplay, fans choose their character with either their favorite cast member (Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad or Taylor). In Story Mode, players live the movie through song and dance, performing "High School Musical" and "High School Musical 2" songs, from "Start of Something New" to "We're All in this Together," solo or as a duet. In Party Mode, friends compete against each other. Players can also choose their favorite backdrop and belt out hit songs from other popular tunes sung by familiar Disney Channel stars. In Quickplay mode, players can jump into any song and pick from any characters, outfits, and environments they've unlocked. For the fans a little shy about singing, or waiting their turn, pick up the Wii remote and the Nunchuk, and move them to the beat to accompany the singers with percussion instruments like a snare drum, tambourine, cowbell and more. At the end of the day, if you're not a fan of the SingStar games, then this is NOT for you. But if you like to swap your joypad for a microphone every now and then, and you don't mind tackling some highly cheesy tunes (many of which you'll find yourself humming for weeks to come - they really are that catchy) then you really should give this a chance.

IGN
Is this game fun? Yes, and I don't even watch these movies. However, everything about it -- simplistic graphics, a short Story Mode and a limited set of gameplay modes -- screams budget title, but here we are being charged full price.

Sing It! is a title that can easily be enjoyed by a wide audience, however, playing the same short game over and over again for a high score to get at the bonus features gets old fast. Ultimately, the missing depth and short length make it a hard sell for the price of the package. Still, the gameplay is solid and it is an entertaining experience while it lasts.

If you like the movies, then add a couple of points to the score and purchase away; if you haven't bought it already, that is. Unforunately, we didn't like the movies, so it's difficult to see past the dodgy presentation and lacking gameplay. Stick with SingStar.

Almost a 10-year-old girl's dream come true, but too short and too no-frills: could have been a lot more. [Jan 2008, p.101]

It's all a bit too wholesome, and I'd sooner be singing along to The Sound of Music if I had a choice. Start waving your jazz hands in the air in protest and demand a proper Singstar Musicals package instead.

It's more bad karaoke compilation than game. [Christmas 2007, p.82]
