Wild Wild West is the 1999 action-packed comedy western starring Will Smith, Kevin Kline, and critically acclaimed actor Kenneth Branagh, and is now available on Amazon. During the reconstruction era of American history, Captain James West (Smith) is a fast-talking gun-slinging cowboy who finds himself on a mission with ahead of his time inventor and U.S Marshall Artemus Gordon (Kline), to stop the evil half-machine Dr. Loveless (Branagh) from assassinating President Grant, and starting another civil war. Along with the beautiful Rita (Selma Hayek), the unlikely pair use gadgets and grit to give Loveless a taste of western justice. But will their efforts be enough to stop Loveless' giant spider machine in time? This star-studded feature is directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and is based on the popular 60's television show starring Robert Conrad and Ross Martin - though the film made several changes to the original plot and characters .

  • Not all that great.

I liked the original show from years back. I thought this movie adaptation was good to start but when they introduced the Megalito Loveless character as a legless vet I was disappointed. The actor who had played that part in the original show was a person of smaller stature who was popular back then, having been in a number of other things back then including some Star Trek episodes. I thought the special effects were lacklustre in this film and kind of hard to look at somehow (re the large mechanical spider/walker thing-ouch) Not the best film I have ever seen.moreless
