  • Probably the best episode of the entire series.

    9.8
This episode was nearly perfect from start to finish. The only thing keeping it from a perfect 10 are the filler scenes regarding Lucy, Andy, and Dick Tremaine, but they are few and far between thankfully. Nearly the entire episode revolves around the resolution of the who killed Laura Palmer storyline by agent Cooper. One of the best aspects of this episode is the fact that although Cooper and company finally figure out who killed Laura (after the audience already knew), no one still knows the entire greater mystery of Bob. By the end of the episode, we learn a few more details about Bob from Mike/Phillip Gerard and from Leland, but we still don't know exactly where Bob comes from - that is saved for later on in season 2. The final sequence proves once and for all that Bob does in fact exist, yet leaves us hanging in a suspenseful and creepy way.moreless

    • Log Lady intro:

So now the sadness comes--the revelation. There is a depression after an answer is given. It was almost fun not knowing. Yes, now we know. At least we know what we sought in the beginning.

But there is still the question: why? And this question will go on and on until the final answer comes. Then the knowing is so full, there is no room for questions.

    • Cooper: The time has come for you to seek the Path. Your soul has set you face to face before the clear light ... and now you are about to experience it in its Reality, wherein all things are like the void and cloudless sky, and the naked, spotless intellect is like a transparent vacuum, without circumference or center... At this moment, know yourself and abide in that state.
