America’s Blinders

By Howard Zinn, April 2006 Issue
What is the idea of our moral superiority based on? Surely not on our behavior toward people in other parts of the world. Is it based on how well people in the United States live? The World Health Organization in 2000 ranked countries in terms of overall health performance, and the United States was thirty-seventh on the list, though it spends more per capita for health care than any other nation. One of five children in this, the richest country in the world, is born in poverty. There are more than forty countries that have better records on infant mortality. Cuba does better. And there is a sure sign of sickness in society when we lead the world in the number of people in prison—more than two million. FULL STORY

You Have No Rights: Stories of America in an Age of Repression

By Matthew Rothschild

I have just finished reading Matthew Rothchild's book, "You Have No Rights: Stories of America In an Age of Repression." I found it terrifically informative and well written. It is a well researched piece of work, based on the author's twenty years of experience as the editor of "The Progressive" magazine.

Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

By Matthew Rothschild, February 7, 2008
Infragard

Today, more than 23,000 representatives of private industry are working quietly with the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. The members of this rapidly growing group, called InfraGard, receive secret warnings of terrorist threats before the public does—and, at least on one occasion, before elected officials. In return, they provide information to the government, which alarms the ACLU. But there may be more to it than that. One business executive, who showed me his InfraGard card, told me they have permission to “shoot to kill” in the event of martial law.
InfraGard is “a child of the FBI,” says Michael Hershman, the chairman of the advisory board of the InfraGard National Members Alliance and CEO of the Fairfax Group, an international consulting firm.

InfraGard started in Cleveland back in 1996, when the private sector there cooperated with the FBI to investigate cyber threats.

“Then the FBI cloned it,” says Phyllis Schneck, chairman of the board of directors of the InfraGard National Members Alliance, and the prime mover behind the growth of InfraGard over the last several years.

InfraGard itself is still an FBI operation, with FBI agents in each state overseeing the local InfraGard chapters. (There are now eighty-six of them.) The alliance is a nonprofit organization of private sector InfraGard members.

“We are the owners, operators, and experts of our critical infrastructure, from the CEO of a large company in agriculture or high finance to the guy who turns the valve at the water utility,” says Schneck, who by day is the vice president of research integration at Secure Computing.

“At its most basic level, InfraGard is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the private sector,” the InfraGard website states. “InfraGard chapters are geographically linked with FBI Field Office territories.”

In November 2001, InfraGard had around 1,700 members. As of late January, InfraGard had 23,682 members, according to its website, www.infragard.net, which adds that “350 of our nation’s Fortune 500 have a representative in InfraGard.”

To join, each person must be sponsored by “an existing InfraGard member, chapter, or partner organization.” The FBI then vets the applicant. On the application form, prospective members are asked which aspect of the critical infrastructure their organization deals with. These include: agriculture, banking and finance, the chemical industry, defense, energy, food, information and telecommunications, law enforcement, public health, and transportation.

FBI Director Robert Mueller addressed an InfraGard convention on August 9, 2005. At that time, the group had less than half as many members as it does today. “To date, there are more than 11,000 members of InfraGard,” he said. “From our perspective that amounts to 11,000 contacts . . . and 11,000 partners in our mission to protect America.” He added a little later, “Those of you in the private sector are the first line of defense.”

He urged InfraGard members to contact the FBI if they “note suspicious activity or an unusual event.” And he said they could sic the FBI on “disgruntled employees who will use knowledge gained on the job against their employers.”

In an interview with InfraGard after the conference, which is featured prominently on the InfraGard members’ website, Mueller says: “It’s a great program.”

The ACLU is not so sanguine.

“There is evidence that InfraGard may be closer to a corporate TIPS program, turning private-sector corporations—some of which may be in a position to observe the activities of millions of individual customers—into surrogate eyes and ears for the FBI,” the ACLU warned in its August 2004 report The Surveillance-Industrial Complex: How the American Government Is Conscripting Businesses and Individuals in the Construction of a Surveillance Society.

InfraGard is not readily accessible to the general public. Its communications with the FBI and Homeland Security are beyond the reach of the Freedom of Information Act under the “trade secrets” exemption, its website says. And any conversation with the public or the media is supposed to be carefully rehearsed.

“The interests of InfraGard must be protected whenever presented to non-InfraGard members,” the website states. “During interviews with members of the press, controlling the image of InfraGard being presented can be difficult. Proper preparation for the interview will minimize the risk of embarrassment. . . . The InfraGard leadership and the local FBI representative should review the submitted questions, agree on the predilection of the answers, and identify the appropriate interviewee. . . . Tailor answers to the expected audience. . . . Questions concerning sensitive information should be avoided.”

One of the advantages of InfraGard, according to its leading members, is that the FBI gives them a heads-up on a secure portal about any threatening information related to infrastructure disruption or terrorism.

The InfraGard website advertises this. In its list of benefits of joining InfraGard, it states: “Gain access to an FBI secure communication network complete with VPN encrypted website, webmail, listservs, message boards, and much more.”

InfraGard members receive “almost daily updates” on threats “emanating from both domestic sources and overseas,” Hershman says.

“We get very easy access to secure information that only goes to InfraGard members,” Schneck says. “People are happy to be in the know.”

On November 1, 2001, the FBI had information about a potential threat to the bridges of California. The alert went out to the InfraGard membership. Enron was notified, and so, too, was Barry Davis, who worked for Morgan Stanley. He notified his brother Gray, the governor of California.

“He said his brother talked to him before the FBI,” recalls Steve Maviglio, who was Davis’s press secretary at the time. “And the governor got a lot of grief for releasing the information. In his defense, he said, ‘I was on the phone with my brother, who is an investment banker. And if he knows, why shouldn’t the public know?’ ”

Maviglio still sounds perturbed about this: “You’d think an elected official would be the first to know, not the last.”

In return for being in the know, InfraGard members cooperate with the FBI and Homeland Security. “InfraGard members have contributed to about 100 FBI cases,” Schneck says. “What InfraGard brings you is reach into the regional and local communities. We are a 22,000-member vetted body of subject-matter experts that reaches across seventeen matrixes. All the different stovepipes can connect with InfraGard.”

Schneck is proud of the relationships the InfraGard Members Alliance has built with the FBI. “If you had to call 1-800-FBI, you probably wouldn’t bother,” she says. “But if you knew Joe from a local meeting you had with him over a donut, you might call them. Either to give or to get. We want everyone to have a little black book.”

This black book may come in handy in times of an emergency. “On the back of each membership card,” Schneck says, “we have all the numbers you’d need: for Homeland Security, for the FBI, for the cyber center. And by calling up as an InfraGard member, you will be listened to.” She also says that members would have an easier time obtaining a “special telecommunications card that will enable your call to go through when others will not.”

This special status concerns the ACLU.

“The FBI should not be creating a privileged class of Americans who get special treatment,” says Jay Stanley, public education director of the ACLU’s technology and liberty program. “There’s no ‘business class’ in law enforcement. If there’s information the FBI can share with 22,000 corporate bigwigs, why don’t they just share it with the public? That’s who their real ‘special relationship’ is supposed to be with. Secrecy is not a party favor to be given out to friends. . . . This bears a disturbing resemblance to the FBI’s handing out ‘goodies’ to corporations in return for folding them into its domestic surveillance machinery.”

When the government raises its alert levels, InfraGard is in the loop. For instance, in a press release on February 7, 2003, the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Attorney General announced that the national alert level was being raised from yellow to orange. They then listed “additional steps” that agencies were taking to “increase their protective measures.” One of those steps was to “provide alert information to InfraGard program.”

“They’re very much looped into our readiness capability,” says Amy Kudwa, spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security. “We provide speakers, as well as do joint presentations [with the FBI]. We also train alongside them, and they have participated in readiness exercises.”

On May 9, 2007, George Bush issued National Security Presidential Directive 51 entitled “National Continuity Policy.” In it, he instructed the Secretary of Homeland Security to coordinate with “private sector owners and operators of critical infrastructure, as appropriate, in order to provide for the delivery of essential services during an emergency.”

Asked if the InfraGard National Members Alliance was involved with these plans, Schneck said it was “not directly participating at this point.” Hershman, chairman of the group’s advisory board, however, said that it was.

InfraGard members, sometimes hundreds at a time, have been used in “national emergency preparation drills,” Schneck acknowledges.

“In case something happens, everybody is ready,” says Norm Arendt, the head of the Madison, Wisconsin, chapter of InfraGard, and the safety director for the consulting firm Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. “There’s been lots of discussions about what happens under an emergency.”

One business owner in the United States tells me that InfraGard members are being advised on how to prepare for a martial law situation—and what their role might be. He showed me his InfraGard card, with his name and e-mail address on the front, along with the InfraGard logo and its slogan, “Partnership for Protection.” On the back of the card were the emergency numbers that Schneck mentioned.

This business owner says he attended a small InfraGard meeting where agents of the FBI and Homeland Security discussed in astonishing detail what InfraGard members may be called upon to do.

“The meeting started off innocuously enough, with the speakers talking about corporate espionage,” he says. “From there, it just progressed. All of a sudden we were knee deep in what was expected of us when martial law is declared. We were expected to share all our resources, but in return we’d be given specific benefits.” These included, he says, the ability to travel in restricted areas and to get people out.
But that’s not all.

“Then they said when—not if—martial law is declared, it was our responsibility to protect our portion of the infrastructure, and if we had to use deadly force to protect it, we couldn’t be prosecuted,” he says.

I was able to confirm that the meeting took place where he said it had, and that the FBI and Homeland Security did make presentations there. One InfraGard member who attended that meeting denies that the subject of lethal force came up. But the whistleblower is 100 percent certain of it. “I have nothing to gain by telling you this, and everything to lose,” he adds. “I’m so nervous about this, and I’m not someone who gets nervous.”

Though Schneck says that FBI and Homeland Security agents do make presentations to InfraGard, she denies that InfraGard members would have any civil patrol or law enforcement functions. “I have never heard of InfraGard members being told to use lethal force anywhere,” Schneck says.

The FBI adamantly denies it, also. “That’s ridiculous,” says Catherine Milhoan, an FBI spokesperson. “If you want to quote a businessperson saying that, knock yourself out. If that’s what you want to print, fine.”

But one other InfraGard member corroborated the whistleblower’s account, and another would not deny it.

Christine Moerke is a business continuity consultant for Alliant Energy in Madison, Wisconsin. She says she’s an InfraGard member, and she confirms that she has attended InfraGard meetings that went into the details about what kind of civil patrol function—including engaging in lethal force—that InfraGard members may be called upon to perform.

“There have been discussions like that, that I’ve heard of and participated in,” she says.

Curt Haugen is CEO of S’Curo Group, a company that does “strategic planning, business continuity planning and disaster recovery, physical and IT security, policy development, internal control, personnel selection, and travel safety,” according to its website. Haugen tells me he is a former FBI agent and that he has been an InfraGard member for many years. He is a huge booster. “It’s the only true organization where there is the public-private partnership,” he says. “It’s all who knows who. You know a face, you trust a face. That’s what makes it work.”

He says InfraGard “absolutely” does emergency preparedness exercises. When I ask about discussions the FBI and Homeland Security have had with InfraGard members about their use of lethal force, he says: “That much I cannot comment on. But as a private citizen, you have the right to use force if you feel threatened.”

“We were assured that if we were forced to kill someone to protect our infrastructure, there would be no repercussions,” the whistleblower says. “It gave me goose bumps. It chilled me to the bone.”

Good grief, Matthew. Get a grip on reality and have the batteries checked in your B.S. Detector. The individual who told you that InfraGard members had license to "shoot to kill" in the event of martial law was obviously pulling your leg. It's exactly the kind of thing a conservative with a sense of humor would say to mess with the head of a "progressive" who lacks one.

The response given by Anonymous on Tue, 02/12/2008 - 2:12pm passes the smell test. Your unverified and unverifiable yellow-journalistic extrapolations don't.

This nonsense is spreading through the Blogosphere like a bad outbreak of the clap. I implore you to re-check the facts and update this story as soon as possible. I believe you will find an interesting story, but not the one suggested by your ridiculous headline.

The FBI Deputizes Businesses

This kind of Corporate/Government collaboration, in our current system of corporate campaign finance (i.e. bribes) can only lead to fascism. We give security powers to the government and not to corporations for a reason. The division of powers is a check on any one group becoming too powerful, and thus abusing their power without accountability.

Why do we let these people run our lives? Stop paying them, start blaming them. Corporations should not be allowed to 'invest' in our elections. We need to reign in the Executive Branch, even amend the constitution if necessary, to limit the legal power of the military and federal police to spy and attack American Citizens.

Start by electing OBAMA, and majority of Democrats to the House and Senate. Then get rid of the electronic voting machines, reform campaign finance, and take away the profit from war. Get hold of what our country used to represent, equality of opportunity, and fund education in public schools to keep class sizes down below 20:1. Only then will we begin to rebuild the foundation of our civil lives.

Horns of a Dilemma,
Don't Lose your Power,
Voting is now on the hour,
Share your Feelings each day.

True, how can we rightly judge,
media is roughly black/white,
history becomes distorted,
thus how can we really know?

Emotions said guide memory,
closure a quest for certainty,
organizer for profit or prophet,
is it not the same money end game?

Internet shortens the web,
snares the fly-by-night,
gives blinded elephant party,
a donkey carrying messy antics.

Now USA Elections arrive,
a difference some believe,
although games may deceive,
hope rides upon dream's stream.

Democrazy is surely needed,
Repugnants the price to pay,
time for some small change,
big time movements to save?

Best, rmuldavin

Why should this surprise anyone? The Nazis have been in the US for years, and in power, secretly. You know them by name.

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

Oh my gosh, what a load of bullcrap! I have been a Infragard member for 3 years. We are a bunch of IT geeks from different agencies and companies that go to a once a month lunch meeting to hear information that we already know about generally keeping information safe. No super secrets, no deputization. In fact, an Infragard member can invite their joe blow friend to a meeting any time they want. And their "closed meetings" just cover information that is allowed to be given to any law enforcement agency. The highest level information we are allowed to see is law enforcement sensitive.

Gee yeah, we have VPN and message boards like a million other companies etc. No super secrets there either.

We dont do national drills, have special powers, shoot to kill or even have super secret FBI contact numbers. Anyone who does is just embelishing upon a very mundane membership of technical professionals who share information to better protect our businesses.

We meet once a month for lunch and watch someone give a presentation on a slideshow about technical security. ooooooooo, so James Bond.

"Power CONNECTS, and Absolute Power CONNECTS Absolutely."

Hey, Humanity: What do you say we get real and allgrownup serious about our happiness and safety - which is our everything - and we hurry up about it?

Matthew R's article, about meticulous preparations carefully designed to preserve the status quo (you know; the one with an ever-escalating wealthpower inequity factor already residing in the billions), isn't "News" - it's "The OLDS".

The carrot the least scrupulous amongst us is always going to be going after the hardest, is the golden carrot of - wait for it - unlimited personal fortunes. (Those overfortunes come with impossible-to-limit power over your life.)

Predictable. Nevereverending. "The OLDS". The oldest story. Them going after the carrot; us living with the consequences of them going after the carrot.

So REMOVE THE CARROT ALREADY, because NOTHING else you do will solve ANYthing.

This species will either rid ourselves of the idea of allowing unlimited personal fortunes or we will succumb to the result of having the next and the next and the next wealthpower giant, ad infinitum.

99% of people on this planet are underpaid for their work that produces all the world wealth, and they have been for generations, and all without knowing it.

Everyone has been had by an 'invisible' Imp in our money system that ceaselessly, ever since we began to specialize in our work and trade the products of that specialization, transfers wealth from earners to non-earners...and thus Billionaires are in possession of money and wealth and the power that comes with it that belongs to, was earned by, others who didn't receive their fair pay.

The non-negotiable price of peace is JUSTICE: ECONOMIC JUSTICE. Without it, sustainability is impossible. It is the extremes that make it impossible to control population growth, to save the topsoil, to allow science to progress. Overpay for some has NOWHERE TO COME FROM but from underpay for many. The pool of wealth is FINITE. INFINITE WITHDRAWALS CANNOT BE ALLOWED ANY LONGER. Individual contributions are limited by nature. Withdrawals must therefore be limited, too.

UNLIMITED PERSONAL FORTUNES IS UNJUST. UNLIMITED PERSONAL FORTUNES CAPITALISM GUARANTEES ENDLESS TYRANNY-SLAVERY.

Human acquiescense to economic injustice is killing us all, killing our safety and happiness, killing our everything. Real human progress is made impossible by extremes of wealthpower. Democracy is but a nice idea when both material wealth and opportunity are so extremely maldistributed.

Taking people’s money off them is the greatest injury because money is food and shelter and healthcare and education and all needs and most desires.

Here's an excerpt of a spoof advertisement that I wrote for the CIA back in 1991 while I was working for The Mouse in Southern California. Note: I did not know at the time that the CIA actually advertises to recruit new agents! "Would you like a career in the CIA? Come join the winning team of social misfits. Commit overts. Enjoy drug implants while serving secret organizations. Alter democracy, advance capitalism, (also known as civilized greed). Protect multinational special interest groups, assassinations, drug deals, yes, it's all here. Great careers and oportunities for advancement! Presidential positions available in many countries to the qualified. And that isn't all! If you should live to retirement age, you also get free electro-shock therapy to help you forget everything, including who you thought you were before you came in. You get: power, control, glory, political connections, action and secret technology in: (space, science, warfare, journalism and psychology and psychiatry). All this and more beyond your wildest dreams! So don't hesitate! This cult's for you! So see your local campus recruiter, or dial...1-800-be-insane! That's 1-800-BE-INSANE! P.S. This cartoon is copywritten and protected (supposedly) by U.S. and international laws. Ha, ha, ha!!!!! RIGHT!

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

Well its pretty well over here. If were going down lets give ourselves a chance. A lot of thoughts go to former WW2 Germany. So lets take some of the good from that time for our own. The Waffen SS fought mostly to the last man, he was their armys firemen. Under gunned, fed, and clothed he killed at a rate of 7 to 1. How did he get to be so? Can we the people do that now? What must we do to have a chance. 1. Organize Volks marches in your area. ( Patriot marches of 5,10,15 Km) say around the local Tiergarten (zoo). 2. Learn to eat a daily meal of the Iron Ration type. ( a tin of cornedbeef, a sleeve of club crackers, and a Hershey bar). Exercise as much as you can, go for walks in all types of weather. Buy yourselves great waterproof boots, and walk them in. Buy youself a waterproof duffel bag (one with shoulder straps to carry on your back) to hold your supplies in. The list goes on, but the idea of it is to get you to be able to survive with just the barest of things. The root strenght of the Waffen SS was his conditioning of his body. With that base a lot of odds were overcome. We will not wake most of the people up, that much is obvious to those that have been trying to do so. So let us start with getting ourselves into the condition we need to be in to have a chance to survive what is coming down. I started 14 months ago, work outside now, and have lost 35lbs since then. If you cannot transfer to a outside position, then get out an walk now. Only YOU can do that, for at the end all we will have is ourselves.

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

You don't have to be either conservative or liberal to be alarmed about this!

Well, Folks, it looks to me like the Communist Soviet idea of a "nationalist" (also see the Nazis) network of "internal informants" and "armed workers' guard units" have been applied in the USA; these high level CEO & "ownwership" units were/are being formed to be our internal spy network and to protect the staus quo of capitalism.
Judge for yourself......next thing you know, we will have organized, mandatory, "self criticsm" meetings to confess how we may be "enemies of the State!"

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

I find myself in a very odd situation here.

I'm a longtime registered Dem, and quite liberal generally, although I can see how people naturally grow more conservative as we age, have families, etc. That's another whole story...

Like most of the readers here, I have had a deep, and growing distrust of the current administration on a variety of issues since before day one, and frankly I think the threat of catastrophic terrorism has been grossly exagerated. IMHO, that is partly intentional, but probably due more to the fact "Homeland Security" is becoming the next big market for the Military Industrial Congressional complex, rather than as a part of any coherent plan from the current administration to enslave mankind. (Ha! I made a funny! I used "coherent plan" and "current administration" in the same sentence!)

But I'm also an InfraGard member for several years on behalf of my employer, which is considered critical infrastructure and also has a role in disaster response. So when I followed a link from another blog and read this article, I find that I am very saddened. All I can say is:

Matt. Dude. You've been played.

It's bad enough Rove corrupted the term "Liberal" into some sort of epithet. Are they trying to remove credibility from any self-described "Progressives", too? InfraGard is not actually a sexy story. It's alot more like the Elk's Club than the KKK. Whoever gave you the martial law nonsense either baited you, or has a Walter Mitty complex. (You young un's look it up. It's instructive.)

IFG "members" (I use the term loosely, because it implies some sort of exlusivity or privilege), have no obligations to or privileges from the FBI or anybody of any kind. It's basically an info clearing house, and the focus is easily 80% good old fashioned cybercrime, hacking, identity theft and other sorts of scams. The real value is that many companies don't traditionally share much info with each other on these topics, (especially if they are ones who got "Owned"), so it can be hard to cross-reference and correlate similar criminal acts against various entities. Which is essential if anybody thinks bad guys need to be caught.

I'll touch on what sort of secret squirrel info we get from the feds because Matt: you really need to get informed on this before you characterise alot of good folks as baby fascists, and yourself and this publication as, well- crazy.

I think my experience is mostly common across the country, although because state chapters have quite a bit of autonomy, the details may vary slighty. As other IFG participants have described above, the state level meetings are public. Often quarterly. Often boring. So come on down, particularly if you actually work in a relevent field. BUT if you do visit: please be professional and polite unless you learn something that warrants any other sort of behavior. You won't, btw.

If participants choose to, they can apply for "membership" in the national IFG organization. This does require an FBI background check, which involves a form, 6-9 months and no black sedans following you to the 7-11. All it does is confirm that you are who you say you are, and your organization or employer has a valid need for Sensitive But Unclassified information related to critical infrastructure protection. No secret oaths, no arcane rituals with sexual overtones (darn it), no decoder ring. (I asked. Always wanted one, too.)

When I heard about IFG, I talked it over with the relevant folks where I work, and we decided it can't hurt to get more info. I was the most interested, so I applied. About a year later, I got a plastic InfraGard card (not a photo ID), without much else on it as described above. I also got a snazzy lapel pin at a meeting a while ago. No idea what I did with it. (Funny story about the card: last summer I was late for a flight, and as I watched the friendly TSA folks slowly sift through another guy's PC bag up ahead, I got the bright and desperate idea of maybe flashing my InfraGard card in hopes it might speed me through. Nope. I handed it over with my boarding pass. He glanced at it, handed it back, and said something like "don't lose your frequent flyer card". Yup. Sure impressed him. He did the same thing to my PC bag. :D )

I also was given a login on the national IFG secure portal, where they post whatever stuff they decide to share with us private-sector types. Fully a quarter of it is open source news straight out of the DHS Daily Report. (I don't have the link to it handy, but Google it. They are public and interesting.) Another half or more of the info is related to cybercrime of various flavors. Alot of that is probably open source too, never checked. Some of it is actually extremely useful, particularly wrt network security and hacking, and definately makes the whole program worthwhile, from our perspective. That plus it's been great for networking and meeting interesting civic-minded techy people.

The last quarter of the info is broadly terrorism or psycho-nutcase related, but alot of that is open source, too. There is a fair amount of stuff marked Sensitive/ Unclassified or For Official Use Only, but the really interesting stuff usually ends up leaked on Drudge the week before anyway. We will occasionally get direct info from the FBI liaison folks with Law Enforcement Sensitive info if they are looking for specific info in relation to a particular criminal investigation, but that's about as James-Bond that it gets. (I've actually developed a new respect for those folks who try to prosecute computer crime. It ain't easy.)

Re the telephone thing: The feds have had a program for many years called the Government Emergency Telecommunication System. Google that, too. It used to be just for high muckety mucks to get a guaranteed dial tone during emergencies, but over the past several years they've opened it up to critical infrastucture entities, too. My employer could have qualified for a GETS card anyway, it was just easier via InfraGard. Doubt we'll ever use it, but speaking as a geek: I find it cool. ;)

So there: I've spilled the beans, and I'm sure I have a date with a waterboard because of it. /snark I'm not going to identify myself, but not because I'm a plant or a liar. It's because I'm actually afraid of the mindset typified by the author and the vast majority of the commenters on this thread. To my surprise, I find I have the same problem with the author as I have with Bush. I find his trademark mixture of arrogance and incompetence also evident in this bit of "journalism". IMHO, Progressives should be aggressively reality based. This article just isn't.

The president uses drugs

What do people expect from a coke-head president who used to be an alcoholic?How old are these busineessmen?Will they remember to take their medication before they go to the riot?Three hundred thousand maniacs on the loose and they organize a geritol posse.The fuhrer should know about this.But no one should tell him since he probably knew at one time but can't remember that far back.why not organize an old folks home too.Never can have enough friends to back you up while one plays "i run the world."Seig Heil you to you too president but hole.And be sure to get briefed on all that b.s. you never pay any attention to anyway.ˇ

where's the privatization angle-FBI Deputizes Business

I SAW MATT on dem now, and was disappointed because--
where's the privatization angle-[like blackwater mercenaries for the military], but for our law enforcement --and, the likely underfunding the police, so the public can be convinced of the need ---and, of course like blackwater, when they go bad, the most that we'll see is court battles that go nowhere ---or, we can't know anything because of national security ---SO IT GOES

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

Just one question: How do I sign up?

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

I actually got a kick out of this article. Being a member of Infragard, I know that the author either misquoted his "whistle-blower" or sadly, Infragard has acquired an egotistical member, bent on impressing people with his card and his "shoot-to-kill" claims. What I find sad is not just the bad journalism of the article, after all, these are a dime a dozen, but the people who so energetically embraced what the author said as truth.

Once again, here's proof that the world is full of people who are quick to hate, and aren't really interested in finding out the truth. I would bet that not a single person who commented in the "the next Nazis" fashion, bothered to ask a single fact-finding question about Infragard. Ask yourself, why did they take the author's article as fact? Because they wanted to. Now THAT'S what we should be scared of, don't you think?

DON'T TAKE YOUR GUNS TO TOWN SON...

I grew up wanting to be a General in the Army to defend Peace and Liberty against Tyrants till I was 17 when the hippies got a hold of me. I got into the Peace/Anti-nuclear movement and four years later said to myself, when the Nuclear-Freeze Campaign was successful and breaking up, "We need a PEACE ARMY to take on the woes of the world." I favor the Mental Health approach to the world’s problems.

We need to re-double our efforts at improving our SPIRITUAL CONDITION in whatever way the GOD of your life directs. This is a Spiritual Battle as much as it is anything. We need to Love our enemy. "Forgive them Father for they know not what they do." I have given my Bro-in-law 10 "9/11 Truth DVDs", he says he has watched them and yet persists to believe the "Official Story." TRAUMATIC HYPNOSIS was perpetrated on the American (World) Public on 9-11-01. A. a trauma B. the lie C. reassuring truth...over and over. PSYOPS via the mass media.

Like one commenter said, "We have the evil people out numbered a million to one." It must be terrible to have to live in their brains, with fear, greed, anger and lies.

Gerbals said, "The truth is the enemy of the lie." Let us keep spreading the truth, preaching to the choir, tooting our own horn, till the truth gets into the "Mass Consciousness" like the HUNDREDTH MONKEY THEORY. So we can't help but speak the truth everywhere and anywhere.

The people who aren’t as alarmed as me reassure me the people will rise up if things get REALLY BAD.

DON'T TAKE YOUR GUNS TO TOWN SON...The agent provocateurs will try to subvert our intentions to “be the change we wish to see in the world”. The NWO has sound and heat weapons to deal with large crowds. There is nothing more compelling to Bravery and self sacrifice than innocent people being brutalized. POUNCE on agent provocateurs that would make us look violent. Make a last stand at home if you wish.

In the long run this is a solution I am pushing to revolutionize the Mental Health World with a new diagnosis.

“Injustice Sensitivity Syndrome” is a condition where the injustices
of the world are ever in the foreground of the person's
Consciousness, and untreated "Injustice Sensitivity Syndrome” can
cause depression, anger, apathy and delusions. The treatment for
"Injustice Sensitivity Syndrome" is working to make the world a
better place. http://redpeacecross.com/ISS.html

12 Step Approach> http://redpeacecross.com/IMA.html

When people lie to themselves to re-enforce what they believe over what they see to be the truth, the pleasure center in activated. We need to Love the masses into WORLD SALVATION. "Live simply that others may simply live."

Peace, Love and Truth, PG Bruce T Duncanson "Columbus, Ohio, USA-614-747-4533>I'm not hiding>Integrity, Dignity. Love...

GET A JOB, GET A LIFE, GET REAL...? There has been a real song out for a long time that deals with that very subject, "Well our life is more than our work and our work is more than our job."

CONSIDERANDO:

01) que Chávez quer permanecer presidente vitalício da Venezuela;

02) que Chávez foi repudiado por grande parte do eleitorado da Venezuela no ultimo referendo, mas continuou afirmando que existem outros meios para consolidação do seu projeto, que ele chama de projeto bolivariano;

03) que a idéia central de Simon Boliva era fazer da América do sul, incluindo o Brasil, uma federação de paises, tal como a União soviética em passado recente;

04) que Chávez vive espalhando a quatro ventos que esta é a idéia dele;

05) que a democracia Brasileira e o povo brasileiro, a Presidente do Chile e o povo chileno e o presidente da Colômbia Álvaro Uribe são empecilhos para seus planos;

06) que a Argentina ainda pensa em obter as terras entre Puerto Natales e a cidade de Ushuaia e a ilhas que pertencem a Inglaterra, as Falkland (para nos, ilhas Malvinas);

07) que a Bolívia e seu Presidente Evo Moralles ainda pensam em ter o Acre da fronteira com o Brasil no rio Madeira com o encontro do rio Madre de Dios até a tríplice fronteira no Rio Amazonas entre a Colômbia, Peru e Brasil;

08) que a Bolívia e o presidente Evo Moralles pensa em ter de volta (acho que nunca foi deles) a faixa de terra Chilena, banhada pelo Oceano Pacifico, entre as cidades de Arica e Antofagasta;

08) que Chávez reclama como sendo da Venezuela a Guiana (antiga Guiana Inglesa);

09) que a Venezuela esta se armando e com armas poderosas e modernas;

10) que as Forças armadas Brasileiras estão sucatadas e que o orçamento delas é insignificante para o tamanho da nação e para enfrentar um conflito armado e eu seu re-aparelhamento não pode ser feito de uma hora para outra e sem planejamento adequado;

11) que foi aprovado no Brasil a Lei do Abate aéreo e isto tiraram á aceleração da entrada de drogas, via área, por território brasileiro, para espalhar o produto não só em território brasileiro, mas em solo dos paises da América do Norte e da Europa, e que os terroristas da FARC não tem poder aéreo de combate e necessitam dela, não como um projeto político, mas um projeto de narcotraficantes;

12) que Chávez necessita do apoio das FARC para colocar seu projeto Bolivariano em andamento e para combater os Estados Unidos e seus aliados, mundo afora oferecendo cocaína barata e colocando em “cheque” o controle das drogas e provocando anarquia em cada pais que ele considerar inimigo;

14) que devemos lembrar que também existem problemas de Fronteira entre Equador, Peru e Colômbia;

15) que se pelo menos o Brasil aparelha-se suas Forças Armadas no extremo Norte, Oeste e Sul do País, não para fazer guerra, mas para demonstrar que estamos preparados para nos defender e que o Governo brasileiro enxerga-se esta necessidade, que inclusive é social, trabalhista e humanitária, pois evitaria guerra e derramamento de sangue de ambas as parte por causa de um sonho absurdo de um ditador e alguns de seus seguidores em outros países que fazem limites com o Brasil;

16) que o Uruguai e Paraguai sempre estiveram nos planos Argentinos de expansão;

17) que Cháves faz contatos com o Irã para obter tecnologia avançada de guerra nuclear e que a nação Venezuelana tem orçamento para bancar isto;

18) que se a Venezuela se armar com armar nucleares vai passar esta tecnologia para a Argentina e a Bolívia;

19) que o Irã parou, segundo especialistas da ONU – Organização das Nações Unidas, seu programa nuclear, mas pode esta a desenvolvê-lo em outro sitio, neste caso na Venezuela;

20) que toda esta “gritaria e o circo” armado por Chaves, sejam para fazer uma “cortina de fumaça”, para que seus planos de guerra de expansão com artefatos nucleares feitos pela Venezuela e Irã não sejam notados;

Corporate Employee said:

"If you are really interested in the truth, show up at one of the meetings. Its free, all you have to do is fill out a registration form."

I have very bad experience with showing-up at one of the government-controlled meetings and questioning for the truth. I was detained, questioned, threatened to sign documents, which I refused, left naked in very well lighted and very cold room, refused food, water or cover, without a phone call or attorney present for five days without being arrested. When I got released, even my friend-attorney was afraid to file charges.

I should obey what my grandmother told me. She told me not to accept invitations to free meetings. It got her arrested and imprisoned in concentration camp Auschwitz.

From that time on, I carry loaded gun everywhere for protection from government "jack booted thugs." "They" can take my gun out of my cold dead hands after I kill some of "them."

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

In the event of Martial Law the freedom fighters and real patriots also get permission to shoot to kill but from God and our great constitution! So Infragard, Blackwater and other pseudo, macho, Rambo wannabe groups don't mean jack spit! Shalom. Jaye

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

Are the agents of Infragard like the best FBI agent ever (J. Edgar Hoover) Corrupt, Pedophiles, Transvestites and Homos? Shalom. Jaye

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

I am glad we have Infragard. If there is a national emergency a program like this will help us help ourselves so that we can keep working and get the basics--money, food, gas, medical services, communication, etc.

The government agencies are often overwelmed when disasters happen, so people have to be taught how to help themselves and their community. Organizations like banks, hospitals, grocery stores, and schools have to get up and running after a disaster.

If businesses aren't prepared they might go under in an emergency, and people will lose their jobs.

The ACLU is on the side of the terrorists, who really do kill Americans, so they don't want us to be prepared for a national emergency.

I don't believe anything the ACLU says, but I do have confidence in the FBI. The FBI really protects us from the killers who violate our civil liberties.

The ACLU is trying to say the FBI is encouraging vigilantees, but really the ACLU is trying to keep us from having laws and programs that protect our civil liberties and lives from terrorists and murderers.

It is the ACLU's friends, the terrorists, who have the guns.

This site is run by a liar.

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

I am German by birth. Though I was born after WW2 ended, I am still a German at heart and I feel strangely still responsible for what was going on before I was born.

My educators in school have not tried to belittle the facts about the German History, as a matter of fact, they went to great length to ensure we students fully understood what transpired. In all its ugliness.

Reading this article I cannot help but be reminded of the SS and the SA. Those institutions managed to incite brother against brother, mother against daughter and son against father. Is this what is happening now? Sure seems to me that it is well on its way. God help us all.

No surprises, here. Compare what people believe
versus reality: Cities are corporations, not
governments. (Look for city corporation limit signs
at the perimeters of them) Ergo, city government is not government, but is a corporate board. City
police are not law enfarcement. They are company
security. Cities are incorporated under state law.

Night Watch anyone!

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

There are 2 concerns here, one is the idea of a corporate TIPS program to spy on us dissidents. This is a legitimate issue.

The other is that this will turn into something like an armed FEMA bumbling around with guns. Since we know how well the FBI did protecting us on 9/11 I'd say our infrastructure is doomed. Let's just hope these FBI/IfraGard morons don't hurt too many innocent people while they screw up & let terrorists attack the US.

Well, if you can trust the government to register gun owners, then I guess you can trust them to declare martial law. Either they have in mind to respect our rights, or they don't.

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

Am I the only one that notice the byline of this article is a Matthew "ROTHSCHILD"??? Is he one of the sickening spawn of the oligarchic banking Rothschilds?

Even if this has a whisper of truth, it's just more evidence of how screwed we are if Americans don't quit fighting with each other over BS "issues" like race, abortion, and religion and start fighting the oligarchy as a unified force.

It all comes down to the numbers. There are maybe a few thousand of them. There are 350 MILLION of us. Do the math and realize that THEY work for US and WE must take charge.

Maybe Congress can investigate this. Then they will storm and bluster. Next they will come up with a law making the whole thing nice and legal. I guess the Constitution was fun while it lasted, even though it never was quite fulfilled.

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

To Anonymous from Canada, we only have our guns for a short while longer. That's why so many shootings are occurring - because you must construct a crisis then come up with the solution.

That's also why Ron Paul cannot become president in the eyes of the controlling faction because the warring (republicans) is done and now we go into social altering (guns ban, more state involvement in childrearing) that comes with democrats.

It's just a game boys and girls. First one takes the ball to move the agenda along with their strengths and then the ball goes to the other side to move the agenda along with their strengths. Back and forth the game goes but always toward the same goal for the same people.

Ron Paul would expose the game and return America back to the individual natural person and away from the corporate person who controls everything (research CORPORATE PERSONHOOD).

They will hold on as tight and do as much as possible to maintain their hold on the USA and the world.

Fri, 02/08/2008 - 1:55pm — Melvin Taggart

"IMO, the states and individual/s no longer have the constitutional rights that were fought for in WWI, WWII, Korean conflict and Vietnam."

I don't know about anyone else reading these comments but this one stopped me dead in my tracks as soon as I read it.

Since when did we fight for our constitutional rights in any of those wars most particularly in Korean and Vietnam? First of all, both Korea and Vietnam were unconstitutional conflicts to begin with. They were both conflicts declared on UN resolutions as has every conflict the U.S. has been involved in since the UN was instituted including the current war in Iraq which was entered into under the authority of Saddam and Iraq's violation of UN Resolution 1441. Vietnam and Korea were both unconstitutional wars from day one as is the current war in Iraq. We are fighting for the UN's Charter not the U.S. Constitution.

Additionally, as a Viet Nam veteran, I ask what U.S. rights were we fighting for in VietNam? More importantly, what was the end result of that war and the Korean conflict as well? In Nam we lost 58,000 Americans (300,000 wounded, 150,000 for the remainder of their lives), one and half million Vietnamese (North and South combined) counting the civilians caught in the cross fire and what was accomplished? The bankers ended up with their pound of flesh as did the military industrial complex but what the nation get out of the deal? What constitutional rights were reinforced in Vietnam? If anything, it was an undermining of the U.S. Constitution and constitutional rights forcing our citizens to fight under the authority of the UN not under a Constitutionally declared war to protect this nation as is required by the U.S. Constitution that all of our Congressional representatives take an oath to uphold upon accepting public office.

So please take your collectivist ideas proffered by a bought and sold media and peddle them somewhere else. Korea and Nam had nothing to do with our constitutional rights. And if you believe differently, reread the U.S. Constitution and prove your point.

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

What "Anonymous President" fails to realize is all of the post 9/11 laws / bills (Patriot Act, Real ID Act, Military Commission Act, Protect America Act / illegal wiretapping, SSP / North American Union, etc) have absolutely nothing to do with protecting our country & freedom, and everything to do with taking away our freedom and destroying our nation's sovereignty.

Marshal law will not be tolerated by 200 million guns in the hands of 80 million American Patriots. I don't own a gun. Maybe I should.

BUSH PLANS FOR PUTTING DOWN U.S. REBELLION FOLLOWING MARTIAL LAW

Gee, thank for spreading disinformation from the Neo-Nazi Hal Turner! Dave Lindorff was shnookered too by that Fascist freak.

Re: Exclusive! The FBI Deputizes Business

Our fascist govenment that is run by New World Order kooks are planning for marshal law. The problem is the 800 or more FEMA civilian prison camps around the country aren't nearly enough to stop the millions of Ameican patriots willing to fight and die for their freedom. 200 million guns in the hands of 80 million patriots will just say no to the NWO!!
