More than 100 delegates at last night's meeting of the Cork County Board at Páirc Uí Chaoimh expressed their support for new Rebels senior football manager Teddy Holland as the impasse over the Cork players strike continues.
Representatives from clubs right across the Rebel county gave their unanimous backing to Holland and passed a motion of confidence in the retired garda detective who hails from Ballinascarthy.
The footballers have set the resignation of Holland as a condition for their return to action, but it appears neither Holland nor the County Board is going to back down on this issue.
Meanwhile, there was full support in a motion of confidence in County Board secretary Frank Murphy.
Also at last night's meeting, the Cork County Board decided to request a postponement of their footballers' National League Division Two encounter against Meath which is fixed for Saturday night at 7pm in Navan.
The Central Competitions Control Committee (CCC) of the GAA will meet at Croke Park today, where a decision will be reached over whether or not they will agree to the request.
Croke Park officials are keen to find a resolution to the dispute, and it is likely that Cork's request for a postponement will be granted.
The Cork County Board delegates also expressed their satisfaction at last night's meeting, with the way its Executive has handled the players' strike issue.
It was decided to return to round-table talks with the players, with LRC chief Kieran Mulvey continuing as faciliator.
The talks collapsed last weekend after 18 hours of negotiations, but Cork officials are keen to see a resolution to the impasse and eager to return to talks. RELATED URLS:-
