Like Ty said, we recommend that you start with a smaller motorcycle—between 250-500cc. Your first bike should help you build confidence and let you work on becoming a better rider, instead of trying to manage the bike's weight or power. Starting small also helps you ride within your limits. It's important that you find a motorcycle that sits comfortably, is easy to balance and feels simple to ride. Happy motoring.

My first bike was a Honda Shadow, 600cc, great bike for starting, light weight and plenty of power for the open high way. skip the little bikes, and then step up the big boys in a few riding seasons...ride safe.

A 250 will last you about 2 weeks and you will be looking for a bigger machine. Do your self a favor and skip the 250 machines and go to the 500 to 600 class. Ride safe.
