History Project - Can Anyone Help?

Jane writes...

I used to live in Newtonhill as a child in the 1950s [...] We emigrated from Newtonhill to New Zealand in 1962.

I am spending a few months here over the summer, researching the social history of Newtonhill, hoping to throw light on the ordinary lives of its early twentieth century inhabitants. I will focus not so much on the historical events of the era, but on the daily lives not usually written about in history books.

Mobile Phone Recycling

Carronhill Special School in Stonehaven are collecting mobile phones for recycling. We make a bit of money out of it to help school funds, so if you have nothing better to do with your old mobiles please get back to me - I can collect them.

Many thanks,

Newtonhill 200 Club Needs You!

Newtonhill's 200 Club is running low on members at the moment, meaning that we aren't paying out £100 prizes each month, nor are we banking £100 each month to help pay for the OAP's party.

The 200 Club profits are used each year to put on a party for retired residents of Newtonhill and Muchalls. They are collected from their homes and taken to the Bettridge Centre where they are treated to drinks, a buffet meal followed by tea and cakes with some fine entertainment provided by the likes of The Collection. If you would like to join the 200 Club and be in with a chance of a monthly prizes, complete the membership form and return it to Melanie Torrance.

It's far better odds than the lottery and the other half of the cash goes direct to the village!
