KUCHING: Barisan Nasional candidate Norah Tun Rahman, who won unopposed in the Tanjung Manis parliamentary seat, has pledged to help the campaign of other BN candidates in the state.

"I am most thankful. After this, I will be going to other constituencies to help my BN friends win their seats," she said.

Returning officer Jamalie Busrie declared her the winner in Tanjung Manis as she was the only candidate who had submitted the nomination papers.

The daughter of former Sarawak chief minister and Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman, Norah, 49, was among nine newcomers fielded by Sarawak BN.

BN had also won the seat unopposed in the last general election through Datuk Wahab Dolah, who is contesting in the new Igan parliamentary seat where he is up against independent candidate Ubi anak Gudol.
Norah said she would redouble her efforts to assist other BN candidates and carry out her duties as a member of parliament.

Norah filed her nomination papers at Belawai sub-district office accompanied by her husband, Nik Sulaiman Datuk Nik Hassan, her father and about 5,000 supporters.
