Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Shamsuddin said today he would not entertain any protests to his candidacy in the Shah Alam parliamentary seat.
Describing such protests as trivial, Aziz, the incumbent Shah Alam member of parliament, said his focus now was to make sure that the Barisan Nasional (BN) retain the seat.
He also said he was not in any way hurt by those who questioned his candidacy in the area.
On the contrary, he said, criticism would only strengthen his resolve to serve the people better.
“I consider (the protest) as the work of naughty children... I’m not angry at them but I hope they change their attitude,” he told reporters after attending a prize presentation at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 11 today.
Aziz who is also the Umno division chief in Gopeng, Perak, said in politics it was difficult to please everybody.
“What is important is for us to do the right things to the best of our ability,” he said.
He was also confident that he would be able to retain Shah Alam, the parliamentary seat he first won in the last general election in 2004.
