Quasi, one of Portland's best kept secrets, heads back out on the road next month with a grand surprise—former tourmate Joanna Bolme, of Jicks fame and girlfriend to the late Elliott Smith, has joined the band. The connections don't stop there, as Quasi opened and served as the backup band for Smith in 1998 and 1999, with whom member Sam Coomes (playing drums at the time) had previously been in a band. The newly formed trio will tour the west coast this fall with Touch And Go labelmates, Ted Leo And The Pharmacists.
