KOTA KINABALU: The popular Gaya Street Sunday fair yesterday was all about 12 aspiring candidates coming to woo voters.

Patrons and traders alike were their target in the jam-packed flea market, a favourite haunt of politicians for the last 27 years.

The first to arrive, as early as 7am, were two groups of Barisan Nasional members.

SAPP-BN's incumbents Melanie Chia of Luyang and Likas representative Liew Teck Chan came first followed by PBS-BN Api-Api candidate Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai and his protege Chin Teck Ming, who is eyeing the Kota Kinabalu seat.

Then came Parti Keadilan Rakyat hopefuls -- Christina Liew, who is eyeing the Kota Kinabalu and Api-Api seat, Jeffrey Yap, who is slotted for the Likas seat, and Alexander Wong Yun Kong for Luyang.
Independents Kong Yu Kiong, contesting for the Likas seat, and Chin Fung Vui alias Bernard in Luyang came, too.

The last group arrived at 11am. They were DAP's Hiew King Chiew, who is challenging Chin and Liew for the Kota Kinabalu seat, Fung Kon Wing (Luyang) and Joan Goh Penn Nee (Likas).
