Racial Justice

Guidelines  |  Grantee List

The Racial Justice Initiative seeks to fund innovative national and grassroots civil rights advocacy efforts that dismantle the root structural conditions of racial discrimination to eliminate systemic barriers of opportunities for historically marginalized racial groups in the United States. Building upon the significance of a structural racism analysis, the program understands the unique impact and relationships between institutions, law and policies in creating social consequences that perpetuate racial and class inequities. The Racial Justice Initiative is dedicated to building a progressive advocacy community dedicated to the eradication of structural and overt forms of racism that have a disproportionate impact upon the lives of historically marginalized communities of color based on race, nation of origin, and language. The funding program supports an emerging and established civil rights field that develops long-term systemic justice reform through innovative legal strategies, community organizing and pubic policy reform for enduring social change to alleviate racial and class discrimination.
