Leek was a key member of Birmingham's 1963 League Cup winning side, with two goals in the final against Aston Villa.

He also scored in every round of the FA Cup with Leicester in 1961 before he was controversially dropped for the final by boss Matt Gillies.

The striker made 108 appearances for the Foxes in total and also picked up 17 caps for his country.

He eventually settled in the Daventry area, working for Ford Motors.

A statement on Leicester's website read: "Everyone connected with Leicester City would like to pass on their sincere condolences to the family and friends of former player Ken Leek, who sadly died this (Monday) morning.

"Leek, a fine, skilful centre forward, made his City debut on August 23, 1958 and scored once in his side's 2-0 victory over Everton."
