Flash Upload Program
3.6.0.3345
Overview
WinFUP is a firmware uploader for updating the operating firmware in Meridian products. This uploader is intended to replace both fupload and fup32 for the majority of tasks. WinFUP has four important innovations:
With most products, WinFUP can check that the firmware is appropriate for the product.
It can handle batch loads. Batches of mfus are handled by .mfp files. This feature is very useful for updating surround controllers and DVD players.
It has a graphical user interface which supports drag and drop.
Right-click on an .mfu file to see the description of new features.
Installation sets up file associations so you can launch .mfu files and batch (.mfp) files by double-clicking. WinFUP can also be run from the Start menu as Start/Run WinFUP. The version that is run will be the last one installed.

Legacy Configuration Program
v2.215
Overview
Most recent configurable Meridian products are configured with the new Meridian Configuration Program. However if you need to configure 568, 568.2, 562, 562V.3, 561, DSP33 and DSP420 products you will need to use the legacy program (Meridian.exe).
It includes more reliable operation under Windows XP and adds support for 861 V4.x, PLIIx and MSR+.
Note
: Please take care to use the correct version settings for your 861. You must have V4 hardware to use the V4 features and V3 hardware to use V3 features!

861 Product Firmware Release 4.2 (2005-04-22)
New Features
Local presets
The 861 retains a copy of the preset currently selected for each of the four stream types (music, movie, 2 & 6 channel). When any menu value is changed or the preset is changed then the local copy is updated. This means that changes to presets are not lost when the stream type changes, e.g. moving in and out of menus on a DVD. The settings are not stored until either the preset is 'stored' or the preset is 'assigned' to the source. Reselecting the source reloads the default assignments.
Lipsync
The range of adjustment for Lipsync has been increased from 30ms to 85ms. This gives users more flexibility when trying to time align sound and video. The setting is also now adjustable per source, rather than per preset - this is to reflect the shift of video processing from the display device to the source device. When the user changes the Lipsync value it is immediately stored for that source, there is no need to use the 'store' keys.
RS232 commands
"ON" is a new command that emulates the front panel 'on' button. The product will leave standby and select the previously selected source.
Software Fixes - Critical
None
Software Fixes - Useful
Calibrate
The size setting no longer ramps - instead all relevant speakers are set to size zero on entering size calibration. There is a pause in between each channel to allow the bass protection to stabilise. Moving between speakers within the routine does not return the sizes to zero, but if you exit size calibrate and re-enter then they will be zeroed again. Note that this may give the false impression that size is not being stored - particularly where there is only one channel, like a subwoofer, to adjust.
Triggers enabled in calibrate
The settings for the first valid source are used to determine which triggers go to which voltage level in the calibrate procedure.
PC control
Copy source selection is allowed when the main room is in standby. Use "COxx", where xx is a number, 0 to 13. '0' to '11' are the sources; '12' is mute; '13' is copy source.
Tape card
Cleaner audio switching for the first source after a reboot.
Headphone
Headphone volume control is allowed in standby ("vm" & "vp"). Also, the headphone output has direct volume control, use "VCxx" where xx is the volume from 1 (or '01') to 99.
DSP presets
DSP presets can now be cleared from the serial port, use "cl" (function clear emulation).
This feature now has a maximum start volume of 50. The signal is a full scale sine wave, and may be significantly louder than whatever source was playing beforehand.
Menus
The 'Meridian DVD player present' flag is now always set. This gives consistent functionality across 800 series and G series products. This means users will have to use the function key as well as the menu up/down/left/right, display and store/clear keys.
Comms
The 'wire sense' feature has been removed in order to be consistent with other 800 series and G series products. If a 'not-controller' product is removed from a system then an auto setup must be performed (press 'Clear' on the MSR or MSR+ when the product is in standby) before it will respond to IR commands.
