Access to electronic resources. Access to electronic resources subscribed to by the Library is controlled by a variety of authentication methods including Harvard ID & PIN, HLS campus IP address, and username & password. Please see the brief description accompanying a resource's listing for details on the resource's access requirements. If you have a Harvard ID, use the Harvard University PIN Management Utilities to change your current PIN or to request a new PIN. If you are a member of the HLS community accessing resources from off-campus, please contact the Langdell reference desk, (617) 495-4516 for assistance with resources controlled by IP address.
LexisNexis and Westlaw accounts. The HLS contracts with LexisNexis and Westlaw allow us to create accounts for law school faculty including visiting faculty, law school staff, and law school students currently enrolled in either law school classes or in an HLS-sponsored Harvard joint-degree program only. At their discretion, LexisNexis and Westlaw allow exceptions for HLS visitors including visiting scholars, researchers, and fellows of the law school and for cross-enrolled students taking a law school class. Exceptions are also usually made for law school faculty research assistants who are not law school students or staff. If you are not a member of the law school community, you will most likely be denied access. For more information on requesting accounts, please see LexisNexis at HLS, Westlaw at HLS and LexisNexis & Westlaw Account Information (pdf).
