You are entering a database containing hundreds of intelligence reports, including many National Intelligence Estimates and other publications produced by the National Intelligence Council or its predecessor organizations, the Office of National Estimates and the Office of Reports and Estimates since 1946. The database consists of documents, once classified, that have been released to the public either partially or in their entirety under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

This Act gives the Director of Central Intelligence statutory authority to exempt from release any information that a reviewer believes needs to be protected. As a result of these reviews, you will see that portions of many documents have been redacted—that is, deleted and blacked out.

The documents appear chronologically and are indexed by geographic or functional subject matter and type of publication.
