WFP assists the Government in diversifying and increasing agricultural production and supporting its programme of land redistribution to smallholder farmers. Food aid supports the privatisation of agricultural holdings and land redistribution to new settlers. As from May 2000, WFP also provides assistance to the social sector through primary school feeding and mother and child health care activities.
