According to Statistics Estonia, 8,448 purchase-sale transactions of real estate were notarised in the 3rd quarter, which is less compared to the previous quarter and compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The average price of a real estate transaction decreased. |

In autumn the number of tourists in accommodation establishments declined
According to Statistics Estonia, in September 176,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments. The number of tourists decreased by 12,000 compared to September of the previous year. |

Unemployment increased rapidly in the 3rd quarter
According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2008, the unemployment rate rose to 6.2%. The unemployment increased on account of persons who have lost the job as well as on account of young people entering the labour market. |

According to Statistics Estonia, by flash estimations, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 3.3% in Estonia in the 3rd quarter of 2008 compared to the same quarter in the previous year. |

Enumerators of the Baltic States will be gathering in Tallinn
Today and tomorrow the Baltic Census Seminar will take place in Tallinn in the National Library of Estonia, where the organisers of the 2011 Population and Housing Census are gathering from the three statistical offices of the Baltic States. |
