Welcome to the School of Architecture and Built Environment

The School of Architecture and Built Environment has an international reputation for pioneering problem-based learning, research-led learning and on-line learning in its undergraduate built environment programs. The School has more than 900 undergraduate and postgraduate students studying architecture, design, construction management, property economics and quantity surveying. Importantly, the school has supported many international students to achieve academic success over the last 40 years and it has a distinguished record in teaching innovation and partnerships with industry.

The school enjoys the highest level of professional accreditation and its graduates are well regarded by industry and employer groups having regularly been rated amongst the most employable in the country and with some of the best starting salaries.

Significantly, academics in the School of Architecture and Built Environment have an international reputation for the quality of their research. For a school of its size and type its research performance is excellent. Several school staff are amongst the top few in their field and many hold prestigious grants from the ARC and the EU as well as a range of North American institutions. As a result of this success, the School is home to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Built Environment Research — a team who have, since 2003, been awarded more than $4,000,000 in research income and have published more than 200 research books, chapters and papers. This centre compliments the school’s research strengths in creative endeavor; an approach which results in state and national exhibitions, design awards and citations.

The school is an exciting community dedicated to teaching and research in support of the built environment professions.
