The Band of Coders is a crack team of programmers and system architects that creates business applications, web applications, and front-end interfaces. We work with companies that know exactly what they want and are looking for the raw programming talent to make their vision a reality quickly and efficiently.

Our team has been stripped to the bare essentials: exceptional coders. No marketing team. No sales guy. No CEO. No fluff to keep us from the goal of creating first-rate software products for our clients. Looking for cookie-cutter code assemblers or hyped-up marketing outfits? Look elsewhere.

Exceptional coders are few and far between.

Because of this, our team is spread out across North and South America. Email, instant messaging, and various fixed-line and wireless devices connect us, creating a tightly integrated satellite office system. This system helps us create strong bonds between members, keep pace with demanding, global clients, and maintain sane personal lives.

{ The Band }

Mariano Abdala

Mariano bends his exceptional coding skills to fit the needs of the client. As with other Band of Coder members, he works especially hard at creating clean code. In his own words: "Clean code means clear ideas".

He's allergic to paperwork and just likes to get the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible. When he's not coding you'll find him sailing, playing poker, or practicing his black-belt level karate.

Kanwal Ahuja

Kanwal is Band of Coders' "bit chef". His code is meticulously crafted into an exacting recipe of usefulness, elegance, and simplicity. What makes him take such care? The client, of course. In his own words: "It's hard to do work that you know is not best for you or the client."

Of course, Kanwal also enjoys cooking. Squash and running help him work off the meals.

Bryan Atkinson

Bryan is a man of few words and great coding deeds. He doesn't talk about his code; he simply delivers superior extensible, modular, and maintainable code every single day. Need we even bother mentioning that his work is delivered on time, every time?

This no-nonsense approach to work also manifests itself in his golf and tennis matches. Care to take him on? Be sure to bring your best game and leave the talk at home.

Drew Berkemeyer

Drew uses his exceptional coding talent, a gift from his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, to help others achieve their technological and business goals. As a software architect/code boy, Drew creates the best possible business solutions and aims to foster a close and personal relationship with Band of Coders clients.

Probably the Band of Coder member with the biggest heart, you can learn more about Drew, his wife, and his 9 (soon to be 10!) children at Are They All Yours.

Chris Bitton

Chris is the Band of Coders Build Master. He creates a stable build environment to ensure that the client receives nothing but high-quality releases. He feels that if the build environment runs without any interference, he's done his job!

After he's done his job (and feels pretty good about it we might add) he's off climbing sheer rock faces, biking through the mud, or relaxing in the kitchen.

Adam Campbell

Adam is on a mission to create stunning designs that look great in all major web browsers. His tools to accomplish the job? Clean, lean, and mean CSS and XHTML code that hardly anyone will see. His dearest wish is to meet a fellow coding traveller who will understand him when he says: “I created clean code today!”

When’s he’s not hard at work on a web design project, Adam likes travelling, photography, relaxing by the ocean and spending time with his wife.

Brydon Gilliss

Saving money with a code base? Strange but true. Brydon looks well beyond clean code and strives to build a code base that is easy to maintain now and five years from now. What drives him? Knowing that lower maintenance costs put money in the client’s pocket. Like we said, strange but true.

Brydon is also a driving force behind the Band of Coders. Through his hard work, the vision of the Band of Coders as a solid community of exceptional people working on challenging projects with great clients has become a reality.

In his few off-hours, Brydon spends time with his family, plays hockey and ultimate, and enjoys the company of power tools as he works on his house. Learn more about him at his blog, shiftMode.

Brent Jubinville

Brent is something of a contrarian; he believes that technology should be implemented to solve a business need rather than change a business need to fit technology. Sound radical? In many technology circles, it is.

Using his coding superpowers for good, not evil, Brent works on the front-end and system architecture. When not coding, Brent play volleyball, cycles, and sings (and not just in the shower or along with the radio).

Pat Lewis

Pat’s a builder who believes that one good thing follows another. Focussing on the back-end and front-end/back-end integration, he has a preferred coding method: Create clean code. Create maintainable code. Create bug-free code. Method result: a happy client.

Did we say Pat’s a builder? In his downtime he likes to design and build things. Reading and music are also a big part of his life. Lately, he’s into history and politics.

Sheldon Bainwohl

Sheldon approaches design and development as an art and has little time for developers that aim for "good enough", rather than great.

Sheldon's track record has consistently proven that it can be done better. He believes that ongoing bugs and spiraling support costs are not an inevitability and should not be accepted as such.

"The goal is to deliver software to accommodate where you are going, not where you are or where you've been".

When not spending time with his wife Sabrina and their three capable daughters Sarah, Mirabel, and Jennaca, Sheldon likes to keep active by playing hockey and running.

Jaimie MacPherson

Jaimie’s approach to projects: Simplify technological solutions and deliver on time and on budget. Nothing makes him happier than a well-executed project that delivers value for the client from the very start. He feeds off the energy and talent of fellow members of the Band of Coders.

When he’s not staying on top of current technology trends he can be found whitewater kayaking, off-roading, or in the boxing ring.

Robert McCart

Robert is driven to build clean, elegant, and quality web solutions. He works mostly in the front-end and middle-tier of web development but likes to delve into all parts of the application.

Four things that occupy him outside of the Band: music, video, building, and his 4-year-old son.

David Mansilla

What gets David up on Monday mornings? The burning desire to design powerful, user-friendly, leading-edge applications, that's what. As a Systems Architect, David is in the thick of software development at every stage. From gathering requirements to final testing and implementation, he sees the big picture and all the little details.

Dave is very much a summer guy so if you're looking for him outside of work, search the nearest warm ocean or look for a ragtop on the back roads. If he's not in either one of the locations, pay a visit to the local squash club.

Diego Nudler

Diego is best described as a code puzzle-master. Each and every piece of code is the most important piece of code. Each piece is carefully shaped to work well with every other piece of code in the project. Put all the code pieces together and the result is an application that makes the user’s life easier.

When not carefully honing his code, Diego loves to play with his son and kick the ol’ soccer ball around with his friends.

Mike Wynn

Michael loves tackling knotty coding problems and loves working with clients to find elegant solutions. While time and money can usually solve any problem, Michael sees budget constraints as just a piece of the puzzle.

Before Band of Coders, Michael was a guitarist in a rock band. Lately, though, he's been wowing the young audience at his daughter's daycare with his Raffi covers.
