Last year TWL applied for and was awarded a grant under the United States Department of Agriculture Environmental Quality Incentives Program (“EQIP”).  EQIP is a voluntary conservation program from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and supports production agriculture and environmental quality as compatible goals and through EQIP, farmers receive financial and technical help with structural and management conservation practices on agricultural land.

The grant money is being applied to a much needed irrigation infrastructure project at the Day Road Farms.

Much of the work on the project is being done by volunteers seeking to give back to the local farming community.  If you would like to participate in these efforts please join us!

Work Parties are every Saturday through the end of April 10 AM to 2 PM at the Day Road Farms.  Wear work clothes and if you like bring hand tools such as a shovel, although tools are available at the site.

We look forward to seeing you!  This is the largest agriculture infrastructure project to take place on the Island since the City purchased the Day Road Farm area and it is exciting to be a part of it!
