About our home

Thank you for your interest in Thorney Croft. Please let us take this opportunity to tell you why we are proud of our home.


At CIC’s Thorney Croft, a huge emphasis is placed on providing you with a home from home environment, treating you with dignity and respect, recognising your rights and your need for privacy.

Thorney Croft is a 60 bed care home with adjoining day care centre, which provides care and support for older people. Situated in the picturesque Scottish port of Stranraer, the home offers superb views and is close to local shops, libraries, banks and parks. The home also provides easy access to all major transport routes and services.

Thorney Croft offers a homely, happy and relaxed atmosphere, which is superbly designed and offers easy access for wheelchair users.

Our home hasrecently been refurbished to a high standard and the interior professionally designed with the involvement of both residents and colleagues.

All rooms offer en-suite facilities and include both television and telephone points. Couples can also be accommodated for at Thorney Croft by converting rooms into a bedroom and sitting room arrangement.

You are encouraged to reflect your individuality in the décor of your room, you can personalise your room with your own treasured photographs, ornaments and furnishings, if you wish.

Thorney Croft is designed over two floors and is divided into six wings. Each wing caters for ten residents and comprises of a dining room, kitchenette, TV lounge and quiet area.

Thorney Croft has a large garden area and enclosed courtyard garden; providing pleasant and secure environments for residents who enjoy being outdoors.

CIC’s 20th birthday celebrations was a cause for celebration in our birthplace Halton, Cheshire, this week.



Stuart Cochrane is a trainee at CIC's Wolfcraig Training Project, an educational and occupational training service in Stirling, Scotland for people who have long term enduring mental illness. He has recently published a book entitled 'Everybody's Free To Feel Good'.
