FRED MASCHERINO LEAVES TAKING BACK SUNDAY

Posted by Scott Heisel on 04-Oct-07 @ 05:40 PM

Guitarist/vocalist Fred Mascherino has decided to leave Taking Back Sunday to focus on The Color Fred, his solo project. The band posted the news on their blog, reading:
"After four great years and two successful gold albums together, Fred has decided to leave Taking Back Sunday to pursue his solo career. We wish him well and we are working on the next Taking Back Sunday album as we speak.

We wanted to let you guys know and then get back to working on the music. No drama, just riffs.

On that note, Fred's album The Color Fred's BEND TO BREAK is coming out on October 30.

The Louder Now Parttwo CD/DVD is coming out November 20. You want webisodes, we got webisodes. You want unreleased live videos? Got that too. Lots of bounus features and behind the scenes goodies on this one. More on that soon.

The next Taking Back Sunday album is in its very early stages. As always, we will be updating you on that as we go along.

Thanks guys!"
Mascherino was not an original member of TBS; he replaced John Nolan, now of Straylight Run, who quit TBS alongside bassist Shaun Cooper in 2003. There is no word on who, if anyone, will fill Mascherino's shoes.

UPDATE: MTV.com caught up with Mascherino, who commented, "I felt like during the time we were together, we made some great music together, but it was getting to the point where I felt I had taken the road as long as I possibly could. [...] I hoped to write another record, for sure. But there wasn't a lot of writing going on between the five of us, honestly. We weren't really coming together. I felt like it was just a good time to move on, because I was pretty sure I could never make another record with these four guys."

STRUNG OUT'S VAN AND TRAILER STOLEN!

Posted by Scott Heisel on 04-Oct-07 @ 02:03 PM

Sources have informed AP that Southern California melodic-punk act Strung Out were the latest victims of band robbery, having their van and trailer stolen last night in Philadelphia, in the middle of their current headlining tour with Evergreen Terrace and I Am Ghost. Details are sparse, but it looks like the band lost nearly everything, including musical instruments, merch and personal items. However, according to IAG's tour manager, Strung Out will not be cancelling any dates; they plan on sharing equipment with the other bands, and are renting a van to continue on. The tour plays Philadelphia tonight (dates).

UPDATE: The band have released the following statement:
"So our van and trailer just got stolen from our hotel here in Philly around 7:30am. We had just checked in and no more then 20 minutes later, Chris happened to look out the window and see our van driving out. Sure enough, it was skidrown mother fucker ripping it off. So we have lost ALL of our equipment, all of our merch, tons of personal stuff and we are pretty much fucked and stuck in a shitty Days Inn in a fucked up part of town in Philly. There was a double homicide 2 blocks down the road that we were watching about on TV so ya, not a nice part of town at all. Anyhow, if you live in Philly, please be on the look out for our van and trailer. Its a light blue ford E 350 15 passenger van with a white trailer with white rims. There is a bull skull mounted on the front of the grill. We are trying to think what to do. We will figure out how the show must go on though because we for sure dont want to or are we thinking about canceling the tour. We have a lot to figure out here....."
