GALTIER SOCIETY

Purpose
The Galtier Society builds and supports the community of adult Catholics of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis as they strive to live out their faith in family and work life.

Programs
The Society provides members of the community quarterly opportunities to deepen their understanding of the faith and to live out more fully their faith.

-Faith Formation
o Education in the Faith: Programs delivering in-depth understanding of the Faith and how to apply Church teachings to everyday life.
o Reflection on the Faith: Programs offering opportunities for reflecting on personal experiences of faith through prayer, retreats and group discussions.

-Service
Opportunities to live out collectively the faith by providing service to those most in need in our community.

The Name
The Society is named after Fr. Lucien Galtier who was a major force in the establishment of the catholic faith on the Minnesota Frontier in the early to mid-1800's.

The Logo
The Logo is designed to communicate the three main programs of the Galtier Society - Faith Formation, Education, and Service. The Hand and the Heart are for Service, the Bible for Education, and the Cross for Faith Formation. The entire logo flows from the Galtier Society name with a two-fold meaning:

(1) It flows from the Cross, to the Bible, to Service, signifying the flow of our education and service to our fellow men and women from our Catholic Faith.
(2) The Mississippi River, which brought Fr. Lucien Galtier to the Area over 150 years ago.
