USS PAMPANITO (SS-383)Overnight Program Spend
the night aboard the historic World War II submarine USS Pampanito (SS-383).
This unique experience is open to all organized groups (schools, scouts,
YMCA, etc.) which meet certain insurance requirements. The USS Pampanito
is
located at Pier 45, at the foot of Taylor Street, in the heart of Fisherman's
Wharf in San Francisco. (More about the Pampanito.)
The submarine has 48 bunks available for group members to sleep in; however, each person is required to bring their own sleeping bag. The minimum group size is 25. We regret that siblings of visiting group members are not permitted to attend this overnight encampment. While on board, you will have both a self-guided tour and personalized instruction by our staff on the history and operation of submarines. A television monitor and VCR are available for viewing videos from our selection of feature submarine films while on board. During the course of your visit, each camper will complete a submarine qualification worksheet and earn a special certificate from the USS Pampanito commemorating his/her overnight stay.
For 2008, the cost for taking part in this program is $26.00 for Friday or Saturday nights and $20.00 for weeknights. We do require a minimum 1:6 ratio of adults to children under age 18, and a minimum of 7 adults with any sized group. If your group has stricter supervision requirements, please adhere to them. If any parents wish to attend, they will be accommodated at the same fee as other campers. We require a $300.00 non-refundable deposit within 30 days of making your reservation, to be applied to the total fee for your group. To make a reservation, please call 415-561-6662 ext. 30. steps you will need to take. We will require copies of your group's Certificate
of Insurance as well as a tour permit or letter indicating the tour is
officially approved by your organization. You will also be required to
complete a Hold Harmless form which we will provide.

After
you make your reservation, you will be sent a program guide book to help
you plan your stay. Besides providing details about the program, a Plan
of the Day is included which will provide the framework for activities
while your group is on board. We expect your stay not only to be fun, but
a learning experience as well. The Plan of the Day will help you to divide
up responsibilities among your group so that they feel they are a real
ship's crew. Your group will be responsible for furnishing their own meals.
