This Code of Conduct applies to all participants attending the
New Zealand Radio Awards whether finalist, invited guest, paying
ticket holder or other. It is designed as a guide to the
standards of behavior required.
The
Code of Conduct is written and enforced by the Radio Industry
Awards Committee, a sub-committee of the Radio Broadcasters
Association (RBA).
The
penalty for breach of the Code of Conduct will be based on the
level on the seriousness of the offence as determined by the
Radio Industry Awards Committee.
Radio Award participants may be banned from future entry or
participation in the Radio Awards for a number of years or life.
Action may be initiated by the Radio Industry Awards Committee
or as a result of a written complaint by an attendee.
Participants are responsible for their own behavior and should
not bring the Radio Awards into disrepute through their
activities while attending.
There are three Principles that define the Code of Conduct.
FIRST PRINCIPLE
Respect for the rights of others. This includes but is not
limited to colleagues, judges, sponsors, invited guests,
production and venue staff and others.
SECOND PRINCIPLE
Acceptance speeches are appropriate and compatible with the
Radio Awards aim to showcase the best of New Zealand radio.

It is not permitted to use language or
gestures that seriously offends any person because of their
race, religion,
colour,
descent or national or ethnic origin, sex, marital status,
age, sexual orientation, disability or religious or ethical
beliefs.

Criticism that is sufficiently strong or
persistent so as to harass, or constitute a personal attack
or otherwise intimidate a person who may or may not be
present is not allowed.

It is not appropriate to use language or
gestures that are obscene, offensive or insulting. The use
of swear words must be avoided.

Respect the privacy of individuals. You may
not mention private, personal details that have no relevance
to the Award you are receiving.
THIRD PRINCIPLE
Intimidation, bullying, threat of assault or inappropriate and
deliberate physical contact between participants during the
Radio Awards function will result in the immediate expulsion of
the offenders by security staff at the direction of the Radio
Awards Committee, and may be followed by a ban for succeeding
Awards at the discretion of the Radio Industry Awards Committee. |
