The Essential Priesthood
Legal and Moral
Requirements for Catholic Priesthood
How many priests of the Catholic Church are legal only priests?
How many priests have both legal and moral priesthood?
The qualifications for priesthood have not been adequately explained in either canon law or in other directives of the Church. Some Scriptural directives are either denied or ignored. This document attempts to make a fair presentation of the various requirements and disqualifications regarding priesthood.
Questions of concern relating to priesthood:
- What are the ranks and classifications of priesthood?
- Who are the authentic priests authorized to join offerings of the faithful with the one universal offering of Jesus at the Last Supper that was consummated on Calvary?
- What authority and limitations apply to legal only priests?
- Does the continuation of the true Church rest with legal apostolic succession within the priesthood?
- Is moral priestly authority necessary for consecration of the Holy Eucharist and worthily imparting blessings in Jesus' name?
Moral authority is present only if a man has been both legally ordained and meets the qualifications for moral ordination ; has not been subjected to automatic excommunication ; nor subsequent to ordination has committed a disqualifying offense.
Two documents on structure of teachings and authorities of the Church and two documents on legal and moral papacy one of which includes distinctions between legal and moral priesthood have laid the foundations for this document. Some of what is being said here is at the level of theological opinion and should be considered as being able to be revised or further developed.
Bishop, archbishop, patriarch, and pope are legal ranks of priesthood and are similar to corporate or military ranks. Both priesthood and the papacy are levels at which moral ordination has specific meaning. Other ranks of priesthood are levels of temporal authority having additional obligations.
Priesthood is the level at which moral ordination has specific consideration. In regard to a pope, moral elevation and retention in the papacy also affects moral definitions and doctrinal validity of universal teachings on matters of faith and morals,* in addition to being necessary for the consecration of the Sacred Species and the imparting of blessings.
* faith and morals : Teachings that are ranked as infallible and are obligatory upon all Catholics. Lesser teachings have validity from the perspective of discipline when not in opposition to justice. Matters of discipline can be adjusted and even terminated by either a reining or future pope who morally holds office. Matters of discipline, including forms of liturgy, may never be considered as permanent or unchangeable. The basic outline of the Holy Liturgy is found in Sacred Scripture.
A papal teaching that limits or opposes the Word of God signifies that the pope making the statement was not morally ordained ; was not morally qualified for the office of pope ; or has subsequently been morally removed from office for reasons not limited to those offenses that subject him to automatic excommunication in the same manner as would apply to anyone else. Rationally this would include anyone who has been doomed by reason of an offense warranting the death penalty as found in either the Old or the New Testaments. Grave scandal would also be a cause for nullification of office, even post mortem. Papal declarations that may be valid are said to be muted until such time as a future moral pope reinstates them either as they were or as he modifies them.
When the legal validity of the papacy is understood to be what is necessary for papal succession, then the moral aspect of papacy can be placed into its proper perspective. The moral holding of office by various popes, dating back even to early centuries, can then be used to question the authenticity of prior doctrine. All popes can be challenged on the basis of their moral status with God concerning ordination and papal elevation, including their subsequent relationship with God. It is legal priesthood and legal papacy that fulfills the promise of God that the Church would continue in existence until the end of time.
When moral ordination has not occurred or has been rescinded, due to culpable fault, then it may be said that the ordinandi had not been morally ordained from the beginning, even though the offense took place at a later time. Moral ordination is subject to the will of God. God exists beyond time and is not limited by time He knows during all of time what takes place within any instant of time therefore God knows at the point of legal ordination whether a particular man is morally worthy of the office of priest.
Although Judas Iscariot received legal ordination, he was never given the opportunity to serve as a priest. He suffered a fate worse than that stated in 1st Corinthians 11:29. He ate and drank the Body and Blood of Jesus to both temporal and eternal condemnation.
"He bought a parcel of land with the wages of his iniquity,
and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle,
and all his insides spilled out." [Acts 1:18]
Even though a legally ordained priest does not ordinarily receive temporal condemnation in the manner of Judas, he should surely expect to receive the same eternal condemnation unless he is able to take the opportunity to repent and make major restitution, which should include public acknowledgement of his lack of moral ordination.
Temporal signs that one or more local priests are not morally ordained would include:
- priests failure to teach the fullness of the Word of God
- priests limited availability to hear confessions
- priests presiding over feministic or humanistic liturgies
- immodest dress and behavior at home, on local streets and at neighborhood stores
- local availability of pornography and sexual paraphernalia
- existence of topless bars or theaters showing x-rated movies
- local increase in alcoholism and drug abuse
- increase in neighborhood child and spouse abuse
- local increase in adultery, prostitution, and rape
- increase in the local divorce rate
- general increase in local crime
- operation of abortion facilities advertised in local media,
including phone directories Political Correctness
- local increase in sodomy and pedophilia
- general increase in local accidents and disasters
- The above signs prevalent on a diocesan scale focus upon
moral ordination at the level of bishop.
- When applied on a Church wide scale they reflect on papal moral efficacy.
As found in the book of Hebrews, the statement, "thou are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek," applied to the universal high Priest, Jesus. Permanent ministerial priesthood found only in moral Catholic priests united with the Chair of Peter only applies to those who always remain morally ordained priests. Note : inadvertent personal sin of a celebrant is forgiven with the right intention during the purification rite of Mass (the obligation to formally confess remains) and therefore would not normally affect the validity of consecration.
Devils are a major source of temptations but tend to leave neighborhoods where Jesus is carried present within those who have morally received Him. The greater are the numbers who morally receive Jesus, the less often will satan's henchmen be willing to stay around. The gospels testify to the fact that devils prefer not to be near Jesus. Commonly when He is present they are expelled from their human hosts. NOTE: participation in the Mass and the reception of Jesus is available to the faithful on a daily basis to those who are free of mortal sin (the sacrament of Penance should be frequently available).
Moral priesthood is necessary for the consecration of the Most Holy Eucharist, the imparting of blessings, the performing of exorcisms, and related actions. The six other sacraments only require a legal priesthood as their moral character is derived from the recipient. Purely civil parish and diocesan actions only require someone with temporal authority, not necessarily by someone ordained a priest. Moral papacy is necessary for any an all valid declarations concerning faith and morals.
A priest or pope found to be unworthy of the office through sound investigation by qualified men by reason of heresy or some other invalidating condition, ceases to have any protection prescribed in the code of Canon Law or in Scripture. Only those morally anointed by having legally with apostolic succession authorized hands laid upon them can be said to hold office for life. Moses' anointing of Aaron, the first High Priest of the Old Covenant, and the anointing of his successors was a matter of legality. They received legal priesthood; all that was at that time necessary as then there was no confection of the Holy Eucharist. The question of infallibility, regarding a High Priest, had no application. In the New Testament faith and love are prominent considerations in relation to law.
Jesus, the permanent High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek, offered the one universal sacrifice that was valid for all time. Moral ministerial priests unite the offerings made by people of faith in the one true Catholic Church, while in the state of grace (moral cleanliness), with the one propitiatory sacrifice of Jesus offered at the "Last Supper" and consummated on Calvary the next day.
"but he with an oath, through the one who said to him: "The Lord has sworn, and he will not repent: 'You are a priest forever' " -- to that same degree has Jesus (also) become the guarantee of an (even) better covenant. Those priests were many because they were prevented by death from remaining in office, but he, because he remains forever, has a priesthood that does not pass away. Therefore, he is always able to save those who approach God through him, since he lives forever to make intercession for them.
"It was fitting that we should have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, higher than the heavens. He has no need, as did the high priests, to offer sacrifice day after day, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did that once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints men subject to weakness to be high priests, but the word of the oath, which was taken after the law, appoints a son, who has been made perfect forever." [Hebrews 7:21-28]
Men with knowledge, the capacity to understand, and who should have objective wisdom relating to bad bishops, regardless of rank including that of pope, and do nothing to see to their removal should consider themselves as cowards, as do nothings, as people highly offensive to God labeled among the first to be judged and condemned Revelations 21:8.
- 'This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me;
in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines human precepts.' " [Matthew 15:8-9]
- He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments." [Matthew 22:36-40]
- It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for the smallest part of a letter of the law to become invalid. [Luke 16:17]
A bishop's (popes are head bishops) failure to remove a gravely offensive subordinate from priestly or episcopal office would himself become an accomplice in the sin committed. His failure to act warrants his own removal from office. Fine words are insufficient. Actions demonstrating and supporting faith are necessary.
A pope, let alone a lesser office holder, does not have the authority to diminish, reverse or terminate the recorded and recognized Word of God. His authority in matters of faith and morals is limited to the approval of soundly expounded upon developments of Sacred Scripture. He may never diminish or oppose Biblical teachings or true doctrine without himself being automatically excommunicated as a heretic, etc. It is virtually certain that there have been legal popes who were not morally popes. In order to oppose a documented doctrine, a flaw (error) must be demonstrated (proven) in relation to a higher level teaching, common sense based upon natural law, or by reason of the non-moral status of the authorizing pope.
- "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You lock the kingdom of heaven before human beings. You do not enter yourselves, nor do you allow entrance to those trying to enter. [Matthew 23:13]
- "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You cleanse the outside of cup and dish, but inside they are full of plunder and self-indulgence. Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup, so that the outside also may be clean.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You are like whitewashed tombs, which appear beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead men's bones and every kind of filth. Even so, on the outside you appear righteous, but inside you are filled with hypocrisy and evildoing.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the memorials of the righteous,* [Matthew 23:25-29]
* declare numerous saints
Popes have the authority to make declarations concerning Church discipline that are not opposed to justice. A pope's disciplinary regulations may, according to Matthew 16:19, be changed or terminated at a later time. Analysis of God's Word requires basic common sense that is united with the ability and desire to interpret from His perspective. Their should be seen no implied ability to change teachings originating with the eternally wise God Himself.
"I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth * shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." [Mt. 16:19]
* for earth ; relating to momentary matters within creation. God did not give commands only to have them diminished or countered by man.
Doctrinal pronouncements that are not universally applied, i.e., to all segments of the Church wherever found, do not have an infallible character. Infallibility relating to the expounding of Scripture, concerning matters of faith and morals, is dependent upon the moral holding of the papal office (the Chair of Peter). Matthew 16:19 primarily refers to disciplinary matters which may be both bound and later rescinded in whole or in part.
The following titles fall within the classification of bishop, the only exception would be the position of cardinal who serves as both papal elector and papal advisor. At the present time all cardinals are priests and those under 80 years of age minimally have the title of bishop. In the history of the Church there have been many cardinals who were laymen. The heads of Vatican congregations are generally cardinals. The archbishops of some of the largest archdioceses in the world also serve as cardinals.
- cardinal papal elector and advisor. Normally he is either the bishop of a major archdiocese or the head of a Vatican congregation. In the history of the Church there have been many laymen with this title. Presently there is only one non-bishop with this title. He is a priest over the age of eighty and therefore cannot be an elector for a future pope.
- auxiliary bishop a bishop without ordinary powers who is an assistant of a higher ranking bishop.
- bishop an ordinary of a diocese or is assigned to some Vatican office.
- archbishop a bishop who serves as the head of a province usually consisting of several dioceses. An archbishop serves as chairman of provincial meetings of bishops, but does not have particular authority over another diocese. Some archbishops serve in Vatican congregations or other papal offices. Occasionally the title is given as an honorarium. Should an archbishop retire or loose office the title becomes honorary, but he may continue to perform duties able to be performed by an auxiliary bishop.
- metropolitan an archbishop who has received a pallium giving him rites and obligations to investigate particular matters within the province he serves as archbishop. This rank or title is lost should he retire or loose office.
- patriarch an archbishop serving as head of one of the several rites within the Catholic Church. Popes, as bishops of Rome, serve as the patriarch of the Latin Rite. This position is lost should he retire or loose office.
- pope called "Vicar of Christ" who normally is considered to have dual status. He either fills both the "Office of Peter" and the "Chair of Peter," or only the "Office of Peter" if he is not a moral pope. Should he retire he looses the title of pope.
"Vicar of Christ" is a rank of priesthood and is dependant upon legal retention in office. A priest of any rite may be elected pope although historically this rank has been occupied by a Latin Rite priest.
NOTE : It is probable that almost all cardinals and many if not most bishops at the present time are members of the illuminati (the enlightened ones of Lucifer who is called the bright light, the illuminated one. There has been strong historical association between freemasons and the illuminati. The illuminati also have relationships with the Council on Foreign Relations, Bildebergers, Trilateral Commission, Rhodes Scholars, and the Skull and Bones Society of Yale University.) along with the current pope, John Paul II. Many others not associated with the illuminati are active homosexuals, if there is any validity to the book entitled, "Shroud of Secrecy." The pedophile scandal and related homosexual problems in the Church including the high rate of AIDS among clergy supports this contention.
Painstaking investigation by the "Roman Catholic Faithful" (see links), in the diocese of Springfield, Illinois, "led to allegedly eyewitness allegations that the (then) bishop of Springfield, Daniel Ryan, was living a promiscuous homosexual lifestyle, with priests as well as male prostitutes." Quotation is from "The Wanderer," dated April 17, 2003, an ultra conservative national Catholic weekly whose editor, A. J. Matt Jr., is a close minded person when it comes to distinguishing between the righteousness of the papacy and the sinful person occupying the office.
The Roman Catholic Faithful's allegation brings to mind a statement, made by a Mobile Alabama archdiocesan priest, that on the night before ordination, and subsequently, he had sex with the current archbishop. Another statement made by a lay Catholic of Mobile was that he believed that the former bishop was homosexual.
These statements lead to agreement with statements in the book, "Shroud of Secrecy," that promotions within the Church are often based upon who you know and with whom you sexually interact. Cover-ups and lies are now part of the public record relating to Archbishop Lipscomb, who served as chancellor to the former Bishop May of Mobile, who was promoted to the rank of Archbishop of Saint Louis through association with the former Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, Archbishop of Chicago, a man revered by many bishops in the United States, by Vatican officials, and respected by Pope John Paul II.
This also correlates with Father German's experiences with the Jesuits, the archdiocese of New York City, and the Vatican.
Conditions that exclude a man from moral ordination to the ministerial priesthood, and considered sufficient cause for his removal from legal priesthood (the recommended minimum age for ordination is thirty, the age at which Jesus began His public ministry [Luke 3:23]. Aaron was minimally eighty-three years of age when he became the first priest of the Mosaic covenant [Exodus 7:7]. Mandatory service among the Levites, the clan assigned to duties under aaronic priests, was between the ages of thirty and fifty [Numbers 4]. Thirty is considered the normative age at which a man obtains sufficient maturity to intellectually integrate knowledge with life experience to potentially reflect wisdom) :
- Physical deformities and diseases they diffuse focus upon authentic teachings.
- Effeminate actions includes the wearing of jewelry (necklaces, ear rings, rings, bracelets), non-conformists apparel styles and preferences, hair stylization, or cosmetized appearance.
- Inadequate reading skills, stuttering, effeminate voice, manner of speech or related characteristics.
- Lack of righteous conformity to God's stated word and authentic Church teachings
- Tattoos, visible or not, as they are a sign of personal dysfunctionality.
Prerequisites for entering seminary :
- Minimally five years as a practicing Catholic in good standing as an active Catholic prior to entering seminary with at least two years of active involvement at the parish level in some form of worthy public active Church ministry ; reader, teaching CCD, Bible studies, Legion of Mary, home, hospital, nursing home visitations, prison ministry, etc. activities that involve two or more hours of weekly parish or parish associated Catholic ministry.
- Freedom from sexual problems masturbation for a period of a year, more than a single act of fornication during life that has not occurred in at least three years prior to applying for major seminary, freedom from all acts of homosexuality, bisexuality, bestiality, pedophilia.
- Not guilty of shedding innocent human blood (the intentional taking the life of one not warranting doom according to Scriptural teachings or just papal pronouncement).
- Not guilty of the commission of any act subjecting one to automatic excommunication.
- A complete personal sequential study in faith of Sacred Scripture from Genesis to Revelations while accepting that it is the authentic word of God not subject to change; except for that which has been changed by Jesus in the New Testament relating to form of sacrifice and priesthood, as well as change of restrictions on unclean foods, with possible other changes. As noted in the Acts of the Apostles, the prescription against the eating of living creatures has not been mitigated.
Actions that preclude moral ordination (A man who enters priesthood under false pretense is not a moral priest, nor may he subsequently become a morally ordained priest.) :
- Holding to any belief that is heresy or looks favorably upon positions supporting apostate or schismatic beliefs that are contrary to Catholic teachings.
- Rejects or sidetracks statements that affirm that in the Holy Eucharist Jesus is present both materially and spiritually. Surveys reveal that about eighty percent of Catholics reject this dogma of faith.
- Lying on current application, test forms, or examinations relating to acceptance for seminary entrance. (Any previous lying must be disclosed.)
- Lying in relation to Church service within a period of five years of applying for seminary.
- Homosexuality either active or inactive.
- Adultery.
- Intentional shedding of innocent blood killing or being an accomplish in the killing of an innocent person at any time from conception onward.
- Pedophilia.
- Bestiality.
- Other crimes committed during seminary or after entering legal priesthood that subject one to automatic excommunication. They should not be considered forgivable while the offender remains in seminary, the priesthood, religious life, or any form of Church ministry (usher, extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, reader, sacristan, etc.). Valid absolution would not be available for a period of two years following separation from any of the foregoing sins.
Any return to a named position would be an offense classified along with unforgivable sins that could no longer be validly forgiven in the sacrament of Penance. Even on one's deathbed the foregoing prohibition would continue to apply. At such time the penitent would be totally at the mercy of God. While a person should not despair, he should be very fervent in regard to prayer, penance, and restitution.
Offenses that call for removal from legal priesthood :
- grave misuse of funds - tithing, various other church collections
- pedophilia and other moral felonies and conditions that preclude one from being morally ordained as already stated.
Women cannot be either legally or morally ordained to the male only ministerial priesthood ; nor may they serve in any ministerial position in relation to liturgies. This is not meant to infer they have a lesser association with God, but emphasizes the value of the direct association available only to them * through childbearing. Women can actively participate with the creative act of God at conception and through special care of souls during the nurturing process only open to them. Should pregnancy not be God's will for a woman she can humbly serve God through faithful submission to His will as is available.
* Women have the opportunity to be special ministerial priests. They bring God present within themselves during the creation of each new human being. At the instant of conception women participate in the creative activity of God, an activity in which men are not given the opportunity to participate. Pregnant women have two or more guardian angles within them, their own guardian angel and that of their child's or children's.
How often a woman chooses to participate with God during marriage is commonly her own choice. It is obtuse of a woman to deny life through use of various forms of pregnancy rejection * (denial of the only form of ministerial priesthood open to her) and then seek ministerial priesthood only suited to men. (Response to The Wanderer's News Notes, April 17, 2003 Milwaukee Archbishop "Surprised." A reaction to parish's involvement with a "World Day of Prayer for Women's Ordination," on the Feast of the Annunciation.)
* One of the greatest of sins is the wasting of procreative seed (spermatozoa)
- Judah got a wife named Tamar for his first-born, Er. But Er, Judah's first-born, greatly offended the LORD; so the LORD took his life. Then Judah said to Onan, "Unite with your brother's widow, in fulfillment of your duty as brother-in-law, and thus preserve your brother's line." Onan, however, knew that the descendants would not be counted as his; so whenever he had relations with his brother's widow, he wasted his seed on the ground, to avoid contributing offspring for his brother. What he did greatly offended the LORD, and the LORD took his life too. [Genesis 38:6-10]
- It is postulated that Er was about to practice anal sex with his wife and therefore was killed by God before he could commit the sin anal sex was generally not thought of during that age and therefore was biblically unmentionable.
- Onan practiced the crime of withdrawal, not allowing his seed to flow where God intended, and was killed by God for the grave crime.
A man morally ordained as a priest who subsequently commits an act that brings about automatic excommunication including those calling for doom in the Old Testament becomes permanently removed from moral priesthood. His superior(s) must immediately and publicly remove him from legal ministry upon learning of the defect.
The indelible mark of priesthood refers to legal ordination and means that on judgement day a marked man will be evaluated in relationship to the mark he has on his soul, for good or for bad.
- Did he fulfill the priestly office as desired by God?
- Was he antagonistic or sinful in relationship to the office?
- At what level of love of God and love of neighbor did he serve or oppose the Word of God?
- Did his service increase the Kingdom of God?
- Was he active in harmony with Satan for the destruction of souls?
The so called indelible mark of priesthood received at ordination should be seen as only referring to legal priesthood, not to moral priesthood (a moral priest always remains legally a priest even when unjust action is taken against him and he is publicly removed from office). It is a mark of utter condemnation for unrepentant sinners. The indelible mark of legal priesthood immorally received may never be converted into moral priesthood.
Priesthood's major focus is upon the ability to bring Jesus present in the Most holy Eucharist and to associate (a participation) with His one eternal sacrifice the moral offerings of priestly people made while in the state of holiness (free from mortal sin). Jesus accepts our offerings when we have received Him worthily. He utterly, and probably permanently, rejects them if He is received unworthily. Sincere offerings, made apart from the acceptance of Holy Communion, may be said to be held in abeyance until judgement day when they will be evaluated in relation to the lives we have lived.
Other sacraments only require a legal priesthood. Nothing that is done by non-moral priests is considered of personal value in the sight of God. There are additional restrictions concerning morally valid papal pronouncements on matters of faith and morals that include declarations of sainthood.
An immoral leader should not be given even partially a degree of allegiance. He may and should be treated as any other evil person is treated.
It is morally acceptable to exclude women from some organizations, clubs, and occupations in addition to the priesthood and related ministries. This is due to natural differences and God established designs relating to men and women and their calling in and for proper association with God. To often feminists reject that they are different than men by nature. Men do not have some of the natural abilities of women, and women do not have some of the natural abilities of men.
Sin classifications:
- inadvertent :
- unintended reactions to momentary situations
- habitual sins resulting from lack of improper or incomplete preliminary instructions that have resulted in habits being developed that require a period of time to overcome.
- defiant sin :
- repeated sin or sin desired and then committed
- sin by omission :
- failure to properly react, when the opportunity is present, to offensive occurrences that have the effect of condoning offenses against God.
- failure to admonish or counsel one who either has or is about to sin when opportunity reasonably exists.
Positions seen as counterproductive, harmful to the faith, even ludicrous:
rigid-mindedness, stiff-neckness, bullheadedness, obtuse, close-minded
- Sedevacantists who say there has been no valid pope since Pope Pius XII have a major problem regarding the continued existence of the Church unless there is an understanding of a distinction between legal and moral papacy, and legal and moral priesthood. If the sedevacantist advocates those who say the Chair of Peter is Vacant without distinguishing it from the office of Peter are correct then the Church as a hierarchial organization has ceased to exist. Continuing existence depends upon succession being legal rather than on being both legal and moral.
- teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." [Matthew 28:20]
- And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. [Matthew 16:18]
- And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, [John 14:16]
- To those who say the current "Rite of Ordination" is heretical (flawed), and there is no clarifying understanding to cover this flaw, then for all practical purposes the vast majority of those who call themselves priests are not priests. The consequences of this position would be of such magnitude that the visible Church could not be restored and brought to desired fullness with any commonly acceptable degree of certitude (application of faith).
- With an open mind and an improved understanding of priesthood it should be clearly seen by Traditionalists that the Tridentine Mass is not an infallible liturgy. It has been altered a number of times since originally instituted by Pope Pius V, following the Counsel of Trent, and has been under revision many times since originally approved leading to the current 1962 version re-approved after at least one subsequent version was found unfavorable.
Some priests and bishops participate in charades. They make pretense that they are authentic faithful office holders, mimicking what is righteous, or restating what is incontrovertible without the intention of disciplining offenders, and not practicing either virtue or justice. Like the pharisees of Jesus' time they make a public showing for their own aggrandizement. An underlying principal is that he who defends or protects evil, or an evil person, is himself evil. This is in the context of moral certitude.
The moral validity of the holding of the office of bishop is always subject to question and if found lacking is reason for legally removing him from office. The legal validity of holding office is also subject to reversal if the appointing authority himself is classified as non moral. The legal validity of the papacy is subject to termination if a significant number of the electors where themselves not moral holders of office.
Three ways for a bishop to cease legally holding office:
- By submitting his resignation to the appropriate Vatican authority while simultaneously signing documentation that legally and totally removes himself from all authority and association with the office in the diocese or archdiocese without waiting for vatican approval. He should do this for the sake of his soul since he personally knows that he is a non moral priest and is immorally holding the office of bishop. He should legally remove himself only after removing known non moral priest members of the board of diocesan consulters.
- By being removed from office by papal dictate.
- Through cessation of office by reason of the termination of his mortal life.
