    Huckabee In Dothan Today

    Thursday, May 1, 2008 @04:41am CST

huckabee2008-04-30-1209614399.jpgMike Huckabee, the former Republican presidential candidate, will be in Dothan today (Thursday). The man who won five primaries before dropping out of the race will be here to raise money for the Wiregrass Children's Home. He now supports John McCain who will officially become the GOP nominee this summer.

Huckabee, 52, is an ordained Southern Baptist minister, noted pubic speaker, and even plays in a rock band. Ironically, he was born in Hope, Arkansas, also the birthplace of former president Bill Clinton. Another irony is that his wife of 33 years, Janet,  has the maiden name of McCain but is no relation to the man Huckabee battled during much of the primary season this year.

Huckabee will appear at VIP reception at 5:15 Thursday with each person attending shelling out $250 for the children's home. He'll speak at 7 p.m. to a general gathering who will pay $10 to hear the former candidate.

The event will be held at the new Dothan Conference Center.
