A Scottish resource supporting British rowing

The National Rowing Academy at Strathclyde Park, Motherwell, was opened on 7th June 2002 by HRH The Princess Royal. Its facilities are unrivalled in Europe.

The state-of-the-art rowing tank allows technical coaching at closer quarters than can ever be achieved in boats on open water. The gymnasium - open to the public as The Boathouse Fitness Club - provides the an all-round strength and conditioning base.

These resources are located on the shore of Great Britain's only world championships standard rowing course - and within 45 minutes drive from home for over half the population of Scotland.

But the key to the Academy's future lies principally in its staffing.

The Academy team works with clubs to plan sustainable development of the sport at local levels, and to support delivery of these programmes through coach education and the staging of coaching courses for rowers at all levels, delivered both at the National Rowing Academy and at local clubs.
