A Message From the Director
of the Medical Training Institute
Thank you for your interest in the Medical Training Institute of America.
The purpose of MTIA is to train men and women to assist families in making wise decisions about health care issues. God has given each of us as individuals and families the responsibility to strengthen and care for our bodies in order to be effective in the ministry to which He has called us. (See I Corinthians 6:19–20.)
How Are Families to Fulfill This God-Given Role?
With today’s business-like approach to medical needs, there is little that traditional medicine offers the family in the way of Godly counsel. The true need in medicine is for someone to come alongside and provide families with the Biblical perspective of health and provide wise counsel when illnesses arise. There are also many “vain philosophies” and much misinformation associated with health matters today, which families need to avoid when seeking counsel.
MTIA Offers the Following Programs:
- Midwifery: This three-year program for women began in 1996 and is approved by the state of Texas to formally train direct-entry midwives. Students can pursue an academic certificate, a mastery certificate, or Texas certification. The latter allows them to sit for the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) exam in order to become Certified Professional Midwives (CPM). More info at ati.iblp.org >>
- Professional Labor Support Course (PLSC): This ten-month course equips women to come alongside expectant families and provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support throughout the childbearing process. More info at ati.iblp.org >>
- Health Care Consultant: The goal of this program for young men is to train them to assist families with health care needs in three key arenas: the church, business, and the private practitioner’s office. The skills they acquire enable them to emphasize what true health is and how to approach illness when the need arises. Currently, the Health Care Consultant program is on hold pending additional support from physicians and interested students.
- Home Health Care: This exciting new program will take students through a unique curriculum, training them to approach health care from a perspective of wholeness and home-based care. Trained beyond the level of a nursing assistant, these graduates will seek to aid families who are keeping sick ones at home or who are under the direction of a “home hospital” care program.
Training Goals and Methods
MTIA requires students to have a firm foundation in Biblical principles, a core of Godly character, and a heart for ministry. The training is based on the approach that all education must have the premise of knowing God first and keeping Christ preeminent. One example of this teaching is the comparison of the body’s organ systems to Scriptural principles. Students are encouraged to draw analogies that illustrate how God is revealed in each of the organ systems.
Principle of Scripture | Organ System |
---|---|
Authority | Nervous |
Responsibility | Cardiovascular-Hematological |
Ownership | Respiratory |
Design | Musculoskeletal |
Suffering | Genitourinary |
Moral Purity | Endocrine |
Success | Gastrointestinal |
We trust that you are seeking God to discover the calling that He has placed upon your life. If one of these training programs would help equip you for your life calling and you would like more information, please feel free to contact the MTIA office.
Sincerely,
Dean I. Youngberg, M.D.
