1965 - The great silent era comic Buster Keaton came to Canada in 1964 to film a 25 minute colour short for the National Film Board. The film entitled The Railrodder was shot in the style of the silent films of the 1920s and was a huge hit around the world. A second crew made this delightful documentary showing Buster hard at work making the film and travelling by train across Canada. Even at the age of 69, Buster is surprisingly energetic with great gag ideas and hilarious stories of his great career.
12 Oscars®, 69 nominations, a celebration of NFB excellence. These NFB documentary landmarks and auteur animations are deeply etched in the consciousness of people in countries around the world.
