EIS consists of a small USB box, a footplate mounted with two feet electrodes, two hand plate electrodes, disposable head electrodes, cables connecting the electrodes to the USB box and to connect the USB box to a computer, and software. The EIS software records patient details, runs the scan when the patient is in contact with the electrodes, analyzes the results and displays the results in a user friendly manner.
In use the EIS introduces electric signals of low intensity (1.28V D.C.) through the human body via 6 electrodes. This is painless and has no negative effects to the patient.22 measurements are taken two times and a scan completes in 3 minutes. The scanning results are recorded by the EIS software, which analyzes and interprets the test results and produces a variety of informative models, graphs and data for interpretation by a medical practitioner.
INDICATIONS FOR USE
- In healthy subjects, the EIS system is a non invasive bio impedance analyzer used for a general health check, to estimate body fat percentage and to give diet and micro nutrition suggestions. The applicable age range is 10 to 80 years old for sedentary subjects. For athletic subjects the applicable range is 16 to 60 years old.
- In subject s with symptoms but without treatment, the system can be programmed to compute various physiologic or blood flow parameters and, within the clinical context, to help regulate and target supplementary examinations. The applicable age range is 5 to 80 years old.
In subjects under medication, EIS system is used for the therapeutic follow up to help control dosage and monitor effectiveness and side effects.
The applicable age range is 5 to 80 years old.
EIS should not be used in the following situations.
Dermatological lesions in contact with the electrodes
Carriers of pacemakers
People unable to be held upright or seated
Metal pins or prostheses on the level of the extremities or the joints
Pregnant woman after 6th month
An absence of one or more limbs
