Located on the moon's southern hemisphere, Mare Ingenii
is one of the few mare features on the far side of the moon.
The mare sits in the Ingenii basin. This basin material is
of the Pre-Nectarian epoch. The mare material located in
ingenii and the surrounding craters is of the Upper Imbrian
epoch. The dark circular feature is the crater Thompson,
with the overflow from Ingenii/Thompson directly to the east.
The light gray crater to the south of ingenii is Obruchev.
Although more difficult to make out on this photo, Van De
Graaff is the crater located to the northeast of Ingenii.
