Real Madrid today revealed they were releasing Uruguayan midfielder Pablo Garcia from his contract. The 31-year-old joined the club from Osasuna in 2005.

Garcia played 22 La Liga matches for Los Merengues in his debut season at the Bernabeu. However, he spent the last two campaigns out on loan, at Celta Vigo and then Murcia respectively.

The combative midfielder played all seven games for Uruguay at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Malaysia 1997, where he scored the opener in the final before goals from Esteban Cambiasso and Diego Quintana earned Argentina a 2-1 win. Garcia has since gained over 60 senior caps for his country.
