Introduction: The CIA World Factbook on

The Central Intelligence Agency of the USA publishes The World Factbook.

It contains factual (e.g., name of currency), statistical information (e.g., how much water consumed) and current information (name of head of state, organization of government) about the world's countries and states. 

Also included is, for each country, is some kind of background report or opinion about each country according to the viewpoint of the CIA.
