World AIDS Day

world aids day, staying alive, research

Fight the disease with MTV…

December 1 is World Aids Day- aimed at preventing the spread of the disease around the globe.

MTV has been long committed to raise awareness and fight HIV and AIDS - our Staying Alive campaign challenges stigma and discrimination as well as empowers young people to protect themselves from infection.

This year we’ve organised a concert in South Africa and relaunched our website – supported by Kanye West, Nelly Furtado, Enrique Iglesias, Kelly Rowland, Good Charlotte, Shaggy and Kelly Clarkson

If you think, HIV and AIDS only affects developing countries, then you are wrong.

The UK is the only western country where HIV infection rates are rising, and an MTV research also shows that 70% of young people in Britain are having unsafe sex – a quarter of them believing the pill will protect them from the virus.

If you want to know everything about the disease and how to stay safe, on the new Staying Alive site you can find a massive knowledge database to answer all your questions, blog about issues concerning you and check out our celeb videoblogs.

You can also be part of the campaignMTV and Nike will be auctioning limited edition trainers signed or designed by artists such as Snoop Dogg, Craig David, Shaggy and Nicole Scherzinger at the recent Europe Music Awards.

All money raised will go to support Staying Alive projects.
