Fisherman's Mass-
When you come along to celebrate the Fisherman's Mass you are taking part in a traditional ceremony which has been a feature of the island's social calendar for many years.  The blessing of the local fishing boats takes place around the pier in Castlebay with one of the main highlights of the day being the annual boat race which takes place thereafter.  This carnival atmosphere is complemented perfectly by music and local seafood served up on the pier and this entertainment continues long into the night in the ceilidh held in the local village hall.  A good time to be had by all!

Barra Games -
The Barra Games follow a similar format as many of the Highland Games which take place throughout Scotland in the summer months.  With traditional events such as tossing the caber, tug of war and highland dancing on show you will have a wonderful day soaking up the friendly atmosphere.  As with many events on the island, a ceilidh is the perfect way to conclude your day on an island where the locals really know how to throw a good party!
