Yamal-Europe Gas PipelineThe Yamal-Europe transit gas pipeline with a total length of approximately 4,000 km will connect Western Europe with rich natural gas deposits on the Yamal peninsula. This is one of the largest development projects at the turn of the century posing a challenge to designers, engineers and contractors, including numerous Polish and international companies involved in the Polish section of the pipeline.

The Polish section of the transit pipeline project is implemented by EuRoPol Gaz s.a and it involves the construction of two paralel lines of approximately 680 km each and five gas compressor stations. The pipeline will run through five Polish provinces (voivodships): Lubuskie, Wielkopolskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Mazowieckie and Podlaskie (a total of 67 municipalities).

The location of the pipeline has been selected so as to minimise environmental impact of construction works and future operations as well as to reduce as much as possible the disruption of existing uses of land (farming, residential, transport routes etc.). The gas pipeline crosses 32 railway lines, 246 roads, 108 surface water streams (small rivers, canals and melioration ditches) and 7 large rivers.

The general project designer services are provided by the "Gazoprojekt" Gas Industry Study and Engineering Bureau, a company with a long and proven track record of gas pipeline design in Poland and abroad.
