Dr. Sanjay Gupta is Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Emory and Associate Chief of the Neurosurgery Service at Grady Memorial Hospital. He completed his neurosurgical training at the University of Michigan under Chairman Dr. Julian Hoff and then spent time doing a fellowship with Dr. Kevin Foley at the Semmes Murphy Clinic in Memphis Tennessee. Most recently, he was in private practice in Michigan.

Dr. Gupta specializes in all facets of neurosurgical care with a strong interest in complicated spine, trauma and 3-D image guided operations. He has recently had articles published in the Journal of Neurosurgery and Neurosurgical Focus on percutaneous pedicle screw placement. He has also published on brain tumors and spinal cord abnormalities.

In 1997-1998, Dr. Gupta was a White House Fellow, one of 15 chosen in the country. He worked primarily as an advisor to the First Lady and the President. Now, in addition to his work at Emory, Dr. Gupta serves as CNN's medical correspondent where he comments daily on medical issues. Most recently, he covered the war in Iraq where he embedded with the Navy's elite Devil Docs.
